At this point they are still trying to figure out what they can do out of all the things they want to do. Its always disappointing to not get more news. But its still early. They sure don't want to say they will have something in the game now and then before launch have to pull it cause it just wont work.
Its aso early to spill all the beans. They want to peek every ones interest in the months leading up to launch. And also have to be careful not to say to much cause there are always other MMo's being made that can steal your ideas.

It seems like they have a timetable for the release of information, and anything not currently released through their marketing department is off limits for discussion. There are some advantages to this, but having a productive developer panel is not one of them. "We can confirm that there will be other playable races" is not significant, and really sums up the amount of new info released.

If they are paying for developers to go to ComicCon with the intention of holding a developers' panel, I would have expected them to provide at least one new piece of info. The new info should have been something significant like a playable race, a new planet, or at least time the developers' panel with the release of a new character class.

After a rough calculation, they still have at least a years worth of content to announce! They've gotta get cracking' soon!

Yes, from my experience in following MMO's being developed, these things always start out slow. However, at some point, usually six to four months from opening, information is released at a frantic pace. I think it's usually because more and more people start hearing about the project and want to know more and the only way to keep those people (not the die hards) happy is to keep feeding them info.

So at this point, we will hear one or two good pieces of info a week up to the six month mark and then we will be slammed by content.

Yeah at some point here the speed of the updates and content releases will pick up, just a matter of when at this point.

I'm worried about when that happens, because that would mean lots and lots of dissections.

You would expect information to pick up here pretty soon due to it coming out in possibly less than a year.

I think they are worried about saying anything concrete as one slight mistake and fans could get upset. I reckon they are doing what many game designers do, which is to hint and certain things, and then watch how the fans react (particularly on forums). This allows them to tweak whatever they have to ensure that they don't make any big mistakes.

It's annoying not to get concrete answers, but I can understand why they are reluctant to talk about certain aspects of the game. Overall, I think we got a little bit of new information, and some hints about certain things.

I'm not going to complain. Anything is better than nothing!

It was a bit interesting seeing the backlash on the forum all throughout the day after we posted the panel.

I generally thought the panel was a good one and revealed quite a lot of information if you really tried to dissect what they were saying in it but the Q&A was definitely the part to listen to. For me it was nice as well to get another look at how they develop games and the process behind it. However, as a former game tester I might be a little biased on that point.
