Our stance regarding release date rumors

It seems as if this is a good a time as any to let people know how we will be handling release date rumors with the latest one circulating around the web. We received numerous emails regarding the current rumor and why we haven't reported on it. The reason is simple - we choose not to comment or post about release date rumors. There will be countless times throughout this development cycle of the game where you will hear reports about possible release dates, all if not most will be wrong. In the best case scenario LucasArts and Bioware will give you a canned response saying to the effect that they do not comment on rumors, like all developers do. As such, commenting or posting about the next ten or one hundred canned responses about release date rumors until release would be rather pointless to us and most of our visitors.

If you disagree with our stance on this, please let us know.

Good post and interesting stance - managed to drop a shoutout to my own blog about it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with speculating on the release date as long as it isn't too overboard and carries disclaimers. Jumping to conclusions is probably not a good idea, because that just takes you for a ride.

But commenting on commenting on the release date might be of potential usefulness and entertainment!

Click the link in the post, it goes to a Massively article that says when they thought it was. If you're too lazy to click, it says October 2010.

After reading other posts here, i think id like to clarify.
i think speculation is great.
i've enjoyed several of the posts on DH about possible races, and what we'd like to see. I thought the topic on player housing was great. i just think release date speculation, for any game, is about the equivalent of chasing your own shadow: you're never gonna get it, and you'll look like a retard in the process.

I know of the rumor, I just hope that is all it is too.

I'm also cool with the handling of the rumor too, especially a sucky one like this; however, if there is a cool rumor going around, I only ask that you consider covering it....like I don't know...hmmm....Bounty Hunters can use force lightning :P
