Today's last and final demonstration of the PAX Star Wars: The Old Republic demo shows off trooper gameplay footage. Oh also - /dance confirmed in this demo We also got to see a little glimpse of the death/respawn system - RETURN TO MEDCENTER is the death option in the demo when the person demoing the game died. We are hoping to have the full gameplay demo video up today if everything goes well with the bandwidth at PAX.

UPDATE: The trooper video is now up for torrent download. Youtube embed above now up. Youtube also just parsed it into HD so everything should be good there.

Also of note though it wasn't mentioned (at least not that I noticed) was an example of the self heal used by the trooper. Mimicking the stim packs from KotoR, the Trooper used some sort of injection device to heal himself up right before he died. 2:33-2:34 in the video above. Just thought this should be mentioned, because I know the healing system has fostered great debate in the community.

ironically, this is the same build all the way back from E3. Yes, really. Now imagine about 6 months of work (based on the general pattern of finalizing an demonstration build at least a month before hand). Now I want to see their internal build. :P

I think that by watching WoW, the whole MMO community as well as Bioware and Mythic have learned a lot. One thing is that players DON'T want a permanent, lasting, or excessively inconvenient penalty for death. TOR will probably have something similar to wow, with a quick respawn back at the main base (Med Center), maybe with some temporary debuffs on timer.

For those wondering the /dance command will be covered in the Full Gameplay footage that we will be posting here soon.

I noticed at one point, the Trooper was able to run and gun like the smuggler class can, but I think that is just because of lag or maybe his character was bugged for a moment (around 2:15).

I have to say, the Trooper footage here is looking really good. It's made me feel much better about combat in general. It definitely looks more entertaining than the Smuggler combat (imo).

While they were showing this vid, did they say anything about the death system, specifically when the trooper died?

I can't believe that is how they are going to handle death and it is most likely just a place holder until they can figure out a good death system to use.... I so really hope so anyways =/

Returning to a Med Center does at least make more sense than SWG's "Clone Wars", where everyone who died came back as a clone with insurance. There is a precedent for the Med Center too. When Luke got torn up by the Wampa in ESB, he was placed in a bacta tank at the Echo Base Med Center. He woke up when he was about to be taken out. It fits.

We're getting extremely heavy traffic right now so the download might be a bit slow, the youtube link is up now for those interested in using that method.

Oh snap! all 3 of these things are sick! As for the death system, i may have just read it wrong, but i take it the demo person died by accident?
