Sith Warrior Developer Blog is Out

Today a developer blog was released regarding the Sith Warrior:

Writer Neil Pollner shares a little bit of insight in crafting the unstoppable force of darkness, the Sith Warrior.

Quote:

Think back to when you first watched Star Wars: A New Hope to the moment when Darth Vader enters the besieged Republic ship, surveying the carnage, single-mindedly hunting his target, Princess Leia. If you were like me, your eyes bulged and you thought, I wanna be that guy.

Now, maybe I was alone in that visceral response. Maybe it reveals something disturbing about me, I don't know. On subsequent screenings, I seem to recall hearing a chorus of hisses and boos when Vader emerges. So maybe most of the Star Wars fan community are Luke lovers, or Solo sycophants . But something tells me there are more of me out there. And all these years, like me, you've been waiting for the opportunity to express your inner Vader.

Well, I'm here to tell you, our time has come.

Make sure to read the entire article: http://www.swtor.com/news/blog/20091001_001

It is a nice little read that lets you know what is going on in the heads of the designers. Don't forget, they also have the testing signups as the update for the week.

Having finally read the Developer Blog, it is kind of informative. You start as the apprentice of one of the most powerful Sith Lords. The wording is vague on who that is though. Is your Sith Master the Emperor himself, or just one of his lackeys?

"Other Sith you encounter and confront come to revere and revile you, as much as—if not more than—your master. And eventually, the Emperor himself may take notice of your exploits."

That seems to imply that your Master and the Emperor are not one and the same. But then again, it could also imply that they are the same person(since it doesn't say anything about your Master noticing you). What are y'all's thoughts?

Information wise this weeks update was a fail. Yes, the Beta signups are great, but we haven't been given any real info on the game in over a month.

Plus a Developer Blog beats another "Threat of Peace" issue. At least this is words from the developers' mouths. :)

It all depends on where you want to make speculation from. Some like to take tidbits from the comic. Some take their stuff from the timelines. Others like to take small phrases out of these blogs and make big theories.

I've never been one for comics, so I have yet to read a single issue of "Threat of Peace".

While there is not alot of new information it could be a last minute thing. Since they have been having website issues they could have postponed the original plans to avoid more site crashes. Be patient padawan.

It's too bad there aren't more tidbits or facts in that blog giving new information, even if it relates solely to how the game is designed and developed.

Basically the only thing I learned from this piece is that Sith players can go lightside and undermine the empire (which is not all that surprising considering Bioware likes giving players a wide array of dialogue choices).

That's not a developer blog, that's a sales pitch.

Everything BioWare releases about TOR is technically a sales pitch. We like to call them "marketing" and "hype". They wouldn't release info that would make people not want to buy TOR.

True enough, but this one more than others. The others at least had stuff about the development of the class as it relates to the game, and not "If you ever wanted to play a Sith, you'll love this class", which is what this one boils down to.
