Today Sean announced the battle of Bothawui and a new Threat of Peace:

The Battle of Bothawui

A new holorecord in the Jedi Archive captures a poignant moment in the Republics recent history. Master Gnost-Dural recounts the story of the battle of Bothawuia battle in which the courage and sacrifice of Jedi and Republic forces scored a major victory against the Sith Empire.

BTC 18 Nearly a decade after the return of the Sith Empire and the start of the Great War, the Empire had scored dozens of victories, establishing its dominance in the Outer Rim. As the Sith turned their forces toward the Mid Rim, however, the Republic prepared a bold surprise. When an Imperial squadron arrived to seize control of Bothawui, the entire Republic fleet was waiting. The fleets victory was celebrated across the galaxy, but the truly inspiring moment was yet to come. As the Republic fleet dispersed to defend other battlefronts, only a small force remained behind to face the Empires retribution. The Jedi and Republic troopers on Bothawui never had a chance of surviving the Imperial attack, but their courage and selflessness in the face of impossible odds won a victory far greater than that from any single battle. The heroic stand on Bothawui restored hope across the galaxy, and rallied the Republics forces to fight with renewed courage.

Watch the fifth Timeline holorecord, The Battle of Bothawui, narrated by actor Lance Henriksen.

Threat of Peace #18
The eighteenth issue of Threat of Peace is full of suspense and suspicion. Jedi Master Orgus Din is called away from Balmorra to pursue a suspect in the Senate Tower bombing, the Bounty Hunter Braden. Meanwhile, Lord Baras foils an assassination attempt on Korriban, and Jedi Knight Fortris Gall requests Lieutenant Tavuss help on Dantooine.

[...] Sith Empire decided that this planet would be on of their first targets.  The resulting attack, as seen in the timeline, was reminiscent of the movies.  Bothawui has a shield generator on it, so that means that, most [...]

Playable Bothans?

Anyone else notice our friendly left-handed Revan look alike? I will call him Darth Levan.

He appears in 'deceived' at 2:07 - 2:10, and now 'bothawui' at 0:37 (right-bottom).

In both he appears in a Revan-ish mask, is a lefty, and holds his saber in a reverse grip like Starkiller or Snips.

It's a pretty signature look. I think we may be looking at an important Sith-side NPC.

There are several Darth Levans in the trailer. They wear the mask to become anonymous henchmen. If you watch the movies that is the last thing you want to do because that means you will die.

Nuts, I thought I was on to something. Well, maybe the outfit (since it's a uniform) can be unlocked and worn on my Sith Warrior one day.

But the left handed reverse grip is still unique, right?...right?

cool timeline showing a republic victory. they need to make it a CGI trailer. They showed the republic losing on coruscant, they need to back it up with a republic victory on bothawui.

This wasn't a Republic victory far from it , both sides in defeat.

I noticed BioWare released the high resolution video for download at the same time the update went live. That's improvement.

GU Comics did a comic on today's update! It's still a work in progress, currently a livestream of him inking and coloring it, but there you go. The text below the comic gives some context too. http://www.gucomics.com/comic/?cdate=20091023

Has BioWare even acknowledged the 1-year anniversary of TOR's announcement? It really seems like they should've done something for this.

/disappointed :(

I will admit my dissapointment because i expected something more. Beeing it a special occasion and so on. But even the smallest update brings forth new information regarding the game. For example: yellow lightsabers, the planet of Bothawui (could be playable in the future, who knows), but however, from a certain point of view, Bioware did deliver their fascination for the story. All those Jedi and soldiers sacrificing themselves for the greater good... you can ussually find these aspects in novels (for example ''Star by Star'' and ''Traitor'' from NJO series).
Who knows, maybe our characters will be faced with incredible decisions like this, such as remaining behind when the odds are impossible.
Yet again, patience is our weapon :)

The theme and story of this video seemed familiar, and then at around the midway point I just straight-up expected to see slow motion shots of Jedi chopping Imperial limbs off and that Jedi Master to scream "TONIGHT WE DINE IN KORRIBAN!!!!"

I wonder why that twi'lek looks so much like Aayla Secura. Default garments for twi'lek in Jedi service? I wasn't aware of any.

(The one on about 1/3'rd of the movie, sorry - no minutes & seconds on the holonet as far as I can see).

Oh my god! This must mean that the Shield Generator is going to be a playable class!

Also, I haven't check the swtor forums, but does the number of "many bothans died to bring you this information" jokes exceed 5,000?
Comment by Panzzer made on 10/23/09 11:42:12 AM
ya im totally gonna role the Shield Generator, I think it would be great for raid buffs lololol
Comment by Evel made on 10/23/09 11:28:52 AM
And here I fully expected Darth Hater to be on the ball with a dissection of the video with prophecies of Saswenna as a probably planet. ;)

Don't count us out on that yet. This is only the announcement of an announcement :) Kinda redundant, isn't it?
