There has been a great deal of speculation about the possibility of the Jedi Knight being revealed this Friday on the Star Wars: The Old Republic official site. The mounting evidence is leaving little in the way of doubt as industrious users scour the website for clues. Earlier this morning, a user by the name of Sunyata found what could be the animation for the Jedi Knight Holonet page.
The animation is certainly impressive with a few interesting things to note including possible combat animation and a fantastic Jedi Mind Trick move. Additionally, the single bladed stance might be implying there is a difference between one handed and two handed stances, adding yet another possible weapon choice for players who plan on being force users, however, at the moment this is purely speculation. We are watching carefully for more reveals and we will keep you up to date as they come in.
Update: Looks as if they have taken down the animation from the official website.

I love how the site is set up right now. User comments are organized by DH post topics. As we like to say in Ruby on Rails: “Is it D.R.Y.?” (don’t repeat yourself). You don’t have to dig to find anything… or scramble to keep up. Forums are not always a good thing!

I was just thinking (and by just I mean “since July”) that I hope DH becomes the THOTTBOT of SW:TOR.
I prefer Wowhead to Thottbot(too much “I soloed X as Y!” posts on Thottbot).
But I’d actually prefer maybe DH becomes the WoW Insider(or even MMO-Champion or World of Raids) of TOR.
I guess BioWare reads DH. That’s good, love to have admirers up top. Can’t wait for the Jedi announcement, even though I’m still deadset on Trooper(as always).
I’m with you on that. My main will be Sith Warrior, but I cannot deny the sexiness of the Trooper.

also have to say the little sideways flippy think is certainly reminiscent of Deceived when the Jedi jumps over the Sith’s LS throw.
So this almost confirms a bunch of thins. For starters, as stated already (and seen in the trailer) jedi will probably wear armor (unlike in kotor). Also at the 0:15 sec mark, it looks like the jedi uses Jedi Mind Trick. That really excites me
I hope they make it as awesome as in the movies. I really hope the mind trick isnt like the mind trick in JK 2 outcast, where it just turns enemies friendly. I hope you can use it in conversations and such.
Also im loving how we got to see different styled light sabers on the right in the background, so im pretty sure we’ll be able to customize our own sabers
The moving of the hand in the video gives you that “These are not the droids your looking for” type of feeling. Or was that the Jedi doing magic missile? Hmmmmm. =P

Gives me hope that a jedi weilding a single blade will play quite differently than a sith with one blade (and not the same move with the same damage and the same cooldown and the same effect, with a different name).

I like the idea of armor for Jedis. I was affraid they were all going to look like Neo with a hood. This Jedi looks like he has robot implants with the armor he has on. I hope the Jedi is a strong class, because the Smuggler and Trooper are weak compared to the Bounty Hunter and Sith Warrior. I wonder how unbalanced this game will be. Red side 70%-Blue side 30%?
This article may show more worries about people picking a light saber over a gun, rather than red vs blue.

Oh yeah, they will have huge problem with “my lightsaber is bigger than yours” syndrom. I am sure Bioware will not make the Jedi/Sith too overpowered like SWG did. SWG fell apart when they did that and WoW ran into this when the DK came out OPed. People might have a lightsaber but they will be = to other classes. If they are not Bioware failed us all.
So far their mistake is showing the OP Sith Warrior taking on a Jedi with ease. In the video he says it is a harder fight, but the “elite” Jedi dies before the Sith even looses a 1/4 of life. Yeah, there is a BH helping, but he is not on screen at all, mistake 2. I know it was a video for the Sirh Warrior, but involving other classes more indepth might help the class selection on release.
WAR made the mistake of glorifying Greenskins. I hope Bioware makes all classes look OP. People want to be “Superheroes”. I want to see a Trooper/Smuggler ripping a Sith up. Let’s see how a 1v1 between Jedi and BH goes down. The Jedi and Sith need to lose on camera.
I have stated this many times, and I will say it again.
My main will have a gun.
Don’t take too much stock in the tech demo. That particular one might have been set up so the Sith and the BH couldn’t die. The final product might be a tougher experience.
I’m not basing it off of the demo, I just dont want to be one of the anonymous and abundant saber wielders.
I want to see that poll again after all classes are released. While the new classes may draw fans from the other non-lightsaber classes, there’s a better chance that people choose the lightsaber classes as their fallback position (since it’s Star Wars after all) and if a better option comes along for them, they’ll choose that.
All that being said, I still think the LS classes will have a 30-40% playership though, with the other 6 classes splitting the remainder. And I think Bioware knows that, and realizes that it’s something that happens in a SW universe. They could make the LS classes way underpowered and people will still play them, because that’s the icon to so many SW fans.
They shouldn’t underpower them to get people to play the other classes. I would like people to play what they want to and not NEED a specific class to perform a role in groups.
That armor is awesome. If that’s the archetype for the Jedi in the game, I’m so sold. Sorry Trooper and Smuggler, you tried your hardest to buy me over, but one glimpse of the Jedi and I’m right back to them.
