They've said combat is designed for PvP and that the smuggler is the only class that can run while shooting, and this got me wondering. How will PvP be? I mean it seems like it will rely alot on either stunning the melee users and run away and start shooting or either just stand still and mash abilities.

I check the video about making trooper, and there is a scene when trooper run and shoot at the same time (4:44). Besides Jedi and Sith could quickly jump to theirs opponents ;)

Make that *run away while shooting*

I think the old KOTOR mechanics should apply here. Many paths with prerequisites per path. Push, pull, jump, speed, spin, deflection should be shared.

man, i wish i had skype. anyway, i think the jedi and sith will share "grey" force powers and open up additional force powers by going light or dark. As you can see from the media, they will share lightsaber manuevers but have different animations.

the release of the jedi looks the best so far mainly because of the evolution of the graphics and the relation to Sam Jackson. Even though Sam Jackson is the baddest mofo to ever swing a lightsaber I'm still going with an Imperial Agent. Killing force users when not being force sensitive seems more satisying than being a jedi to me.

Finally my question to you guys is where do you stand on the whole 4 force users thing. On the official forums people think that there will be a force caster. To me, this makes no sense because we know the sith warrior and jedi knight use both lightsabers and force powers and i dont think spamming force lightning warrants a whole other class.

The members of the DH team possess individual opinions on many different subjects dealing with the game.

Haven't found one that supports the "more than one Force user per faction" side of the debate, because there isn't any substantial official information that supports it yet.

If you do not have Skype and would still like to leave a voicemail you can call us and leave one at (954)990-0144 by using your phone. If you use the number method wait for the tone and leave your voicemail.

That number is our Skype phone number line that you can dial via normal phones.

First. The difference between force sensitive class is quite predictable just because in TOR Bioware use game model founded on classes. More elastic would be noclass convention founded on skills for example. IMHO that be more closer to my dream about MMO ;) But we have what we have. So the animations are different, however like in case of force powers there be no lightsaber combat styles belong only to Jedi or Sith. If I understand right, this distinction illustrate different way of how they channel emotion. Even if we use the same style we could express it differently.

About additional force sensitive classes like force caster I agree with you. If I choose Jedi I want be able to develop my character in the ways of Jedi. In KotOR 2 (i confess that I'm not play in first) compulsion to choose Jedi class was kind frustrating for me. Some Jedi be better in some aspects, some in another, but it depend of how they training and what talents they possess. And remember that the most powerfull are best in all aspects (e.g. Mace Windu, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Jedi Exile (even if we have to choose the class)). So if I could play heroic character then I want to be heroic ;)

If by word "baddest" you mean the best I must to disagree (but a little). In my opinion the best is Luke Skywalker. I hope it will be shown good in forthcoming novels.

yea, i think there will be no major diffrences between jedi and sith besides cosmetics and animations. They are pretty much two extreme sides of the same coin.

sam jackson may not be the best jedi in star wars cannon but he is the coolest. slightly cooler than mark hamill, i give him points for being the joker in the animated batman series and arkhum asylum

I think the wide range of opinions about force powers, not only in case of TOR or in meaning of : "who and how can use them", but generally has connection to what are familiar to people. I mean some know only films, others additionally EU. The concept of force powers is so advanced in media outside movies, that it is hardly to compete to those who know only films. SWTOR is part of EU, so for me is quite obvious that it shouldn't be limits to movie motifs especially the fixed dichotomy light/dark side and what is authorise to used in both sides.

And about my class choice. The reveal of Jedi is only confirm this. But I think, that if I will play in this game I won't play only one class :)

A few, the generic ones of course...

Although, as for class change: Trooper all the way :)

A dark jedi, or even a gray jedi should be open to using force choke or force lightning.
Comment by Pinio made on 10/31/09 3:08:46 AM
From the perspective of Expanded Universe, there be no differences between force powers which Jedi and Sith could use, like any other force sensitive groups. Of course, there are unique techniques, developed by some of them but this depend on how isolated those groups are and eventually all can be shared. In game we have many limits, but I think they could solve this problem like it was did in KotOR. The same powers and only your light/dark side affiliation make some techniques easier or harder to master.

Sorry of my poor english :)

Your English is just fine, I couldn't spot any problems and you like to use commas as much as I do.

They should be able to share many, if not all abilities. For example, Force Choke should be available to both sides. This is the part where you say "Hey Zoidberg! Force Choke is an evil move! It should be Sith only." Now I would agree, but the movies say that it might not be. On his way into Jabba's Palace, Luke is stopped by two Gammoreans. Instead of doing a force persuade he decides to go straight to the choke because they obviously are not weak minded grunts. In some of the games... I think it was Jedi Academy, I was told that the powers are not inherently good or evil, but what you do with them can be. As a result of my rant I voted a few, because lightning was always Sith and Plo Koon invented a light side version of it.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I couldn't find many good places to break it up.
Comment by cwjedi made on 10/31/09 12:49:00 AM
i think the light side version was called force judgment, i might be wrong thougth. It was like a orange firery/electricity thing that did almost the same thing as force lightning.

Electric Judgement and it ranges from yellow to green. It was a fairly rare ability and the old school Jedi were afraid of it because it looks too much like the evil counterpart.
Comment by cwjedi made on 10/30/09 10:19:34 PM
i would also like to see a Sith Warrior being able to use a mind trick in a convosation or a Jedi Knight using a force choke ability to persude a target.
Comment by kamakaze189 made on 10/30/09 9:47:07 PM
Im still undecided on which side to choose, sith, or republic, so idk what class to choose... because theres still like 4 or 5 more
Comment by PurpleCliff made on 10/30/09 9:24:43 PM
Jedi and Sith should be able to use exactly the same abilities, depending on their Darkside/Lightside points.

And I think abilities should be mirrored for lightside and darkside, just with a different animation. For ex, Ground Slam for lightside and Lightning Stun for darkside. This makes balance much easier.
Comment by Cynder made on 10/30/09 9:19:14 PM
I am going to explain this via Star Wars Saga. In that game they have 'light side' and 'dark side' descriptors. those powers should be exclusive per side. the 'general' powers should be available to both sides.

I believe the Sith/Jedi should share a couple abilities such as Force Charge and Force Push

They should share a few like Force Push.
