Although it isn’t yet on the homepage, BioWare has announced the Jedi Knight class on the Holonet page of the Star Wars: The Old Republic official site. Sean Dahlberg let the community know early this morning with a post on the official forums.
For thousands of years the Knights of the Jedi Order have been the guardians of peace and justice in The Old Republic. Through disciplined training and meditation, the Jedi Knights achieve perfect union of body and mind, allowing them to meet any situation with focused, fearless attention. Strengthened by the Force, they are able to turn this training into brilliant displays of lightsaber combat inspiring allies and disheartening those who would see the Republic fall.

Even though there were plenty of minispoilers throughout the week, this news is still exciting for the TOR community. We are all struck with a flurry of new questions about the Jedi Knight class with this reveal and we can’t wait to see more. Be sure to checkout the holonet page for all of the exciting information about the new class!

I am so excited about this reveal. This is MY class, and will be my main. I do hope the Jedi get something similar to the Sith Charge skill. Also, in one of the screenshots it looks like the Jedi have some sort of ‘death from above’ skill where the Jedi is coming down on an opponent.
The Force will be with you….always.
i really hope that this puts to rest people thinking there wil be a force caster class
Unfortunately that probably won’t get put to bed for good until the 4th class on either side comes out.
I can see the argument now “Well they based the Knight off of the Jedi Guardian, they even said so in the Gamespot interview. So the Jedi Master is sure to follow.”
” inspiring allies and disheartening those who would see the Republic fall.” is this hinting at buffs / debuffs? if i read this line in gaming terms, it would seem that jedi will be able to provide friendly buffs to allies, and apply weakening debuffs (from the words its most likely reduced stats or a fear type of spell)
already on that, working on something as we speak
”For many, the Jedi Knight is the guardian of a precious dream; a dream of peace, a dream of justice, a dream of a brighter future. The fate of the galaxy depends upon the Knight’s ability to keep this dream alive.”
Best quote ever! My new signature
Now, unto the topic at hand… woooot. One of the best news in months.
ok 5th class with the jedi update i am crossing my fingers that the game will be launched on mid 2010. Honestly it is not exciting to use the community forums because there are alot of redundant topics an speculations going on and I am a bit bored of talking the same thing for over a year!
I’m 100% confident now that there is only 1 Jedi and 1 Sith class, each will allow for customization within their respective classes towards Lightsaber skills or Force skills. I’m very pleased with this.
Wieee jedi, jedi. Wait a minute those jedi knights are part of the rebel alliance and should die. Long live the empire.
Exactly. I see this reveal as “mmm… more Republic targets.”
As a proponent of the four force theory, the Holonet descriptions do undermine it quite a lot, particularly the screenshot with the caption saying the Knight has a wide arsenal of powers. I still think the fourth Republic class will be a Force-specialist Jedi, but I’m only 55% sure now.
What leaked video?

So it answers a lot of questions raised by the leaked video. You can do armor or not, your choice. You can have traditional robes, some sort of fancy robe, no robe, etc. There’s the force push, the lightsaber throw, the mind trick, all of that. The variations of lightsaber says that this is the lightsaber combat class. After this, I’m fairly certain there is only one Jedi class on the Republic side.
