Darth Hater on Dragon Age
by Dover

... Literally

The majority of the Darth Hater staff is currently doing "research" on the newly released BioWare title Dragon Age: Origins. We could give you some line about gaining insight into BioWare's approach to story or possibly examining their graphic style, but the truth is we are just RPG gamers who love a great game. So /afk, and we'll be right back...

Been playing the game and I hope to god there is not a buttload of cutscene cinematics with every character you meet in TOR....I like a few cinematics hereand there but IMO I believe Dragon Age is way overboard with that.....doesnt really feel im playing a game at all rather wathing a movie with a litlle bit of ohhh good i get to control my character now....ohh no another cutscene...wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much.. Hoping TOR is not set up with more movie than actual gameplay

I can't remember how it they called it, but Bioware has stated that TOR combat would be all coordinated, or whatever it was called. Do you think it could be like Dragon Age, where two swords can clash each other?

I think the goal is for it to be similar to how saber's clashed in KOTOR, just with higher quality, updated animation. To be honest I play an archer in Dragon Age and I haven't noticed much in the way of sword on sword contact.

- SPOILER -/ When you kill the first ogre for example, when you just become a grey warden, if the one who gives the final hit has a sword, he jumps to him and does some kind of animation. That would be cool to see on TOR, specially when on a dungeon\- SPOILER -

I agree that it would be an awesome addition, however I think that could be a canned animation. I completed that example 3 times and every time the same NPC performed the exact same action.

That being said, I would love it if they implemented it in TOR

Same thing for me. I would kill one and the guy that does the move would perform it on the already dead creature.

Being a french in France I just don't have the privilege of having the game released here yet... So, I just Darth Hate all of you (Darth pun intended).

I would say to avoid spoilers, but the conversations change so much depending oh what character you play and what dialogue options you choose that my spoilers might be things you never encounter. Everyone needs to remember that DA:O and TOR are being made by different teams, but if the conversations in DA:O are anything to go off of, TOR will be mind blowing.

Very much so. And I'm extremely cheap and don't buy nearly as many games in a short period of time as the rest of the people here.

Very worth it, only gripe I have is when they give you 6 choices of dialog and you have to read them all, takes away from the epic feeling

I'm more of a Sci-fi fan than Fantasy; but I LOVED Mass Effect, is this sort of like how ME was?

if you enjoyed the story aspects of ME then I can see a lot of Dragon Age that you would enjoy. However the combat and leveling system is dramatically different, so if fantasy isn't your thing you might want to do some more research before dropping the cash

I've successfully learned to never look at people's mouths during cutscenes in DA:O. Hopefully TOR will do a much, much better job with facial animations.

Really fun game so far though, are you guys hanging out in the DH vent while you play?

I'm there with subtitles on as well, still tough to pay attention to vent sometimes.

Im currently playing that game as well, it's the sole reason I purchased it. I have some thoughts on it if you all are ready to share.

General thoughts, of course we would love to hear them. However, please mark your comments with -SPOILER- , -/SPOILER- if you reveal any game information simply because others might be behind you.
