if there was to be a jedi consular class then the first jedi class announced would be guardian as those are the two main branches of jedi devotion.

Actually that article on the link is dated the 20th.

Comment by Donner made on November 22nd, 2009 at 11:03am
Dont have to wait until 25th because subscribers get the new pc games tomorrow morning. In about 16 hours.

As mentioned before the first line on the cover means "we played it in detail" and the second "+ all character classes revealed!"

Comment by Panzzer made on November 22nd, 2009 at 2:31pm
but it still begs the question, why is DH having to wait to reveal the content and not this german magasine?

Comment by Darth_Klimius made on November 22nd, 2009 at 3:39pm
I'd say that magazine wouldn't be invited on the next LucasArts' event. %)

Comment by Chasted made on November 22nd, 2009 at 9:29am
Bah, all this talk about four separate force using classes. What I don't get if they did that is how could you make the two classes different. Both story and mechanically.
For Story, every character class I've seen has their own unique flair and style which they would see the story to be told for instance the Smuggler's story will have the non-serious joke-a-minute and a get-the-girl sort of story (Along with other elements). The Soldier would be all G.I Joe and as for the Jedi Knight? Well, I heard their story was about the whole inner-termoil/how-human-are-you and the political fallout from being kicked off Courscant (Among other things).
What would leave the second force user class for his story to be unique, more teen angst?
----
As for mechanics; shall we be having our "Force Based" class be shooting lighting bolts from his hands as if he was shooting from a blaster? Heck no, that would be stupid. Instead, he would be swinging his/her lightsabers like the best of them which would only beg the question: Why is there another class? Isn't this what that silly talent point system is for?

Comment by Deidare made on November 22nd, 2009 at 6:46pm
@Chasted: I have to completely agree. While the fact that two force based classes is still out there, it seems very unlikely that it would happen. And hell, I wouldn't want it to happen. "What would leave the second force user class for his story to be unique, more teen angst?" that’s perfect right there. There’s really no way you could get another force user for both Republic and Empire (well you could, but then we would have "iconic" issues between the classes. One would seem more Iconic than the other, blah blah) Also it would be complicated to make two more force classes, because there mechanics would be the same as the ones before.

And I agree the mechanics between all four "force classes" would al roughly be the same. I mean a force based sith, or a force based Jedi? Now I think that would make players feel less Iconic if they couldn't both pwn with a lightsaber and with the force. Making the average gamer choose like that would create a lot of confusion and mess. And with two force classes on both sides, that mess more force options and less players going to the other classes. Leaving BW and LA to tweak mostly the force classes only, because not as many people will play the other classes. Ending up in at least 2 or even 4 OP force classes. And the poor other 4 classes that would get neglected.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on November 23rd, 2009 at 3:41am
Deidare, I agree. It'd be like making a Trooper that uses Rifles, and a Trooper that uses Pistols. The differences are simply too small to matter and wouldn't create distinct enough storylines for them.

Comment by Trindacut made on November 23rd, 2009 at 12:38am
It sounds like the focus here is on what Bioware can and cannot do. It seems a bit silly to say things like "all four 'force classes' would all be roughly the same" in regards to mechanics, when in actual fact we know virtually nothing on the combat scheme BW has in mind. Hence we really have no idea what they are capable of doing, and not doing. By all means be skeptical, but you'll only look like a fool if you use ultimatums with such a lack of information. In the end Bioware will likely come out with a "we thought about that issue and figured out a solution."

Comment by Boza made on November 22nd, 2009 at 3:46pm
It's also been confirmed that the Trooper is the highest ranged dps class for the Republic, it would seem confusing to have a Jedi caster class not be the dominant ranged class highest dps.

Although, 4 force users have never really made that much sense to me in the first place I suppose...

Comment by Panzzer made on November 22nd, 2009 at 6:17pm
who has the highest dps for the empire?

Comment by Fedaykin made on November 23rd, 2009 at 4:42am

Comment by Fedaykin made on November 22nd, 2009 at 11:04am
Chasted, I so very much hope you're right. Four force user classes would be ridiculous, but I haven't ruled out the possibility just yet. I just hope you're right.

Comment by Trindacut made on November 22nd, 2009 at 10:30am
Mechanics is something easily balanced, I think. If the movies are anything to go by, the second class will be a (I hate using this word) "caster", probably has a focus on buffs and debuffs, but will naturally have skill with the saber (not as proficient as a Knight).

Look on the greater scale of things: The iconic Star Wars hero is a Jedi. I'm only throwing out a round figure here, an estimate I believe is under exaggerated, but you would probably be looking as a 50% force-user player base. If you only have 25% of the classes as force users, there will be more than 3 jedi's to any other republic class. This will result in a massive imbalance of available roles when it comes to whatever TOR will do in the way of raids and such. (What I mean by this is that roles provided by the trooper or smuggler class will be harder to come by. A lot harder.)

So a second force class for each allegiance is a logical way to go. A second class means a second set of roles that will be filled.

Story-wise, there will always be a significant difference between a leader and a follower. Elevating the status of the second class due to their increased connection with the Force is probable, you see that pattern in the movies as well (see Yoda - Windu, Maul-Sidious). These two classes will have comparable story elements, but I'm confident BioWare and manage two very different stories from two similar classes.

To me this looks like a Jedi flash point, well i hope it is and not some kind of force using slave class.

nah the chains were broken, not a slave lol

Hey Sado i think i found the translation for the magazine cover.. welll sort of.

orginal text in german: Wir haben es ausfuhrlich gespielt + alle Charakterklassen enthullt!
Best translation! : We played it enthullt In detail, + all character classes!
Emthullt:= dont know what that word means

Google translate ftw!!!

Comment by Fedaykin made on November 22nd, 2009 at 5:14am
Yeah you're right, Enthullt means "Revealed". I'm dutch myself, so I know a fair bit german.

Comment by Panzzer made on November 22nd, 2009 at 3:17am
I was talking with a couple guys about this but if they are claiming to be talking about the new classes how can they publish this before dec 3rd?

Comment by Fedaykin made on November 21st, 2009 at 9:17pm
I'm stumped. I truely have no idea. Four force users afterall, or she's simply a jedi knight? (Lightsaber, same armour).

Comment by Deidare made on November 22nd, 2009 at 12:11am
Jedi knight, at least im hopeing. I know i don't want two other force uer classes, and I'm not sure who really does.

Comment by Fedaykin made on November 22nd, 2009 at 5:06am
Oh I hope so.. I so very much hope so. The Jedi Knight is iconic for Star Wars. There's a good reason to portray it on the front of your magazine.

Awesome find, DH team.

Can the "wednesday 25th" date be confirmed as November 25? Confused because this is the December issue?

Comment by Boza made on November 21st, 2009 at 5:55pm
All this 4 force user class crap, I'm actually happier that all of the inane discussion will be over than I am of the actual class reveals themselves.

That being said, I'm going to throw my 2 cents in by saying just because they're released simultaneously does not mean they're going to be force sensitive.

In fact, and I'm kinda shocked no one has stated this lately, what if they ARE related, but not by being force sensitive. Perhaps... just perhaps, they have a different connection, maybe... space? X-Wing Pilot Tie Fighter Pilot archetypes are similar, heroic, iconic, could easily be made story-driven and tied into the ground game, and don't require a starting planet thus avoiding the 4 starter planet issue... per se. I'm just sayin... other classes can be connected to each other so that it makes sense to release at the same time.

Here's hoping.

Sorry if it's tl:dr I'm not posting on forums anymore until this debacle with the classes is over, but still monitoring the game's progression, cheers!

If you lok at her feet she's also wearing armor simmilar to what Jedi Knights concept art have been shown in.

Comment by Frank made on November 21st, 2009 at 5:29pm
Why do people want half the population playing 25% of the total characters? That's what will happen if the last two classes aren't force users.

Comment by Trindacut made on November 22nd, 2009 at 8:34am
You took the words from my mouth, honestly. This should give the game a lot more balance I expect, by spreading out the roles over more Force classes.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on November 22nd, 2009 at 8:40am
Why does having more Force classes automatically equal more balance? You don't fix a problem by making more of the same problem. Spreading the problem around doesn't make it any better.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on November 21st, 2009 at 11:05pm
We want it because if only 25% of the classes are "Forcies", people might consider the other 75% of classes more easily. But if 50% of the classes are Forcies, people will consider rolling Forcies more often if only because they have more options on Forcies. "Just that one Force class sounds underwhelming, I'll roll one of the non-Force classes............wait, a second Force class? I'll just roll that instead because it looks cooler than the first one."

Comment by Deidare made on November 22nd, 2009 at 12:08am
Agreed, and if one of those "forcies" classes is getting under powered, then they'll just switch to the other force class. Because we know that the force classes would obviously be more attractive and would just make the other classes seem UP.

Comment by Team made on November 21st, 2009 at 6:40pm
i dont care about who rolls what or population imbalances. there is no way around that in any mmo, a majority of players will always flock to the character that is viewed as the strongest. i just think its a lame idea.

Comment by snafu made on November 21st, 2009 at 5:27pm
Thanks to the assistance of online translators. The front page reads:

"We played it in detail + All character classes revealed"

DH has already played all the characters. They know what the last two classes are. They were showcased in San Fran. Otehr MMO mags have reported this. Trust me, DH knows what the last two classes are.

LOL, they won't say anything. If they did, they wouldn't be invited back to Lucas Arts or BW anytime soon.

Comment by Team made on November 21st, 2009 at 4:41pm
still hoping there will only be two force users

Comment by Deidare made on November 21st, 2009 at 5:19pm
Agreed, twos enough, we need some iconic guys like hmm Chewbacca? So I doubt they'll be any more.

Comment by Panzzer made on November 21st, 2009 at 5:23pm
ya and how much can you do with a force user with no lightsaber?

Comment by jerlot made on November 23rd, 2009 at 12:49am
A second force user would still probably carry a light saber. However would be more powerful with the use of the force and less effective with his or her's saber.

Yes the cover seems to be mostly gothic 3 but there is an imperial sign in the top right. The character you see is not a star wars character im pretty sure. She has chains on lol

Comment by Eric made on November 21st, 2009 at 8:32pm
Those chains and shackles definitely throw you off. That's really new, but I'm not complaining. If that's any indication of the armor and customization, I can't wait for this game.

It says something about unveiling all the character classes in detail, so Churchkpq figured it out.

And I believe the chick on the cover is from a different game, Gothic 3

Comment by Churchkpq made on November 21st, 2009 at 1:24pm
Nope, she's definitely from TOR, you can see the sith empire emblem in the background above her head.

Comment by The BBP made on November 21st, 2009 at 1:59pm
That and you can see the glow of a green saber to her right. NEED FORUMS DH! =p

Comment by Deidare made on November 21st, 2009 at 2:09pm
Thats a pretty whimpy light saber, they could have shown it off a bit more. ;P

Look at the imperial sign behind her. And she's holding a lightsaber.

Comment by Churchkpq made on November 21st, 2009 at 1:35pm
If she's not supposed to be the jedi knight, then this means we may have two jedi classes.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on November 21st, 2009 at 1:04pm
What does the German say on the cover about TOR? I can only make a guess, with one word on the second line being "Character class". Just a guess from someone who speaks no German at all mind you.
