Hello,

How do you feel the balance situation is when comparing what is perceived as the dominant force (Jedi/Dark Jedi) versus a non force using class such as a trooper or bounty hunter - how does that translate in the game when compared to the books or films?

How close are they to announcing any kind of beta test date? I'd search the other questions, but it really really doesn't want me to right now.

I have a two-part question:

Will the 7 lightsaber forms be in the game? And if so, will they have stat/perk bonuses associated to each like in KotOR II?

Had any information about races been released yet? Maybe not specifically what races will be playable but how many races and are races restricted to a certain faction or even class?

My Question:

Well, we now know a pretty good bit about each Sith Empire class. We know the paths of the Inquisitor (despite it being the last class released) and we have seen walk-through footage for the Bounty Hunter and the Sith Warrior, there have walk-through videos for the Imperial Agent as well. The only class we haven't seen in action in any way, shape, or form now is the Jedi Knight. Will there be some concrete information for this class released soon?

My question is: is the combat actually fun? Does it have that "Star Wars" feel to it?

Comment by CabelHarn made on December 3rd, 2009 at 2:35am
Were anymore details given about the system to be used for allowing for people to group together who are not really close in level so friends and family can play together even if they're many levels apart? SWG did this well I feel so I'm hoping they're adapting that system to SW:TORs standard level based approach. They mentioned there would be something but have provided no details and this being in the game is honestly probably my biggest concern since it is what tears my MMO experiences apart with friends in other previous MMOs.

Thanks.

What can you tell us more about PVP Combat and it's Mechanics as it relates to Individual Player and Guild vs. Guild Warfare?

Battlefields?
Rewards?
Death System?
Server Rule Sets (Open World to Safe Zones)?
Looting?
Land Vehicles?
Ships?

If all else fails...just a general overview of the PVP system.

Comment by mesrix horn made on December 3rd, 2009 at 1:43am
How immersed in your characters story line did you feel while playing? Did the game have a sandbox feel to it, or did you feel directed solely by your characters quest line? If there was a sandbox feel, were there side games available? Such as PvP arenas, mini games, etc.

Thank You, and I look forward to the QA

With the final two classes known I would like to ask if you guys have any information on what exactly makes your chosen class special. Some examples, can Bounty Hunters actually hunt players, can smugglers actually smuggle items for players. Any information on anything like this for any class would be great.

We have heard that each class will have two branch paths in their progression. (I.E. Scoundrel and Gunslinger for the Smuggler.) My question would be; What are the two paths a Trooper will be able to choose from?

My question is: "Have there been any hints thus far about being any current or future plans for space content, such as personal space ships, combat, or capital ships?"

Comment by MrSanders made on December 2nd, 2009 at 9:33pm
One of my biggest concerns lays in endgame content and any potential expansions, when we wrap the initial game, is there a certain amount of closure, or a cliffhanger of sorts? What happens to an individual without it feeling finite?

Comment by Duoi made on December 2nd, 2009 at 9:27pm
Transportation will it all be on foot for movement on a planet or will there be mounts? If so what system will it resemble the most SWG, different kinds with different looks speeds and crafted by players, or WoW, based on what race you are( not including exalted reputation), purchased from a vendor or rare drop from a npc and the only difference is speed and color.

Star Wars isn't Star Wars without the Wars part. I'm an avid PvPer and many of my friends are also interested in this aspect of the game. All we know are Battlefields are going to be included. Can we expect any sort of planetary control system or guild owned bases for end game?

Comment by robertjordan made on December 2nd, 2009 at 6:52pm
What is the balance between instanced areas and non-instanced persistent world? For example, is it more like WOW (completely persistent unified world, but instanced dungeons and raids) or Guild Wars (completely instanced game except for city hubs)?

Comment by snakEyezz made on December 2nd, 2009 at 6:32pm
does the inquisitor and counsular classes feel comfortable as purely "force users" and "healers"? or do you feel that there should be dedicated healers/force users?

Comment by bzrt made on December 2nd, 2009 at 6:14pm
This question has 3 parts first how big was the planet that you got to demo the game on did you get a massive feel like you were in a giant world or was it pretty linear and felt like you were confined. Second did they say anything about pvp like will they have anything like battle grounds are there any type of pvp rewards if so how will it work and/or did they even give you any info about pvp. Lastly what about character customization does everything have to look human like or can we look like a different race?

Comment by matrix2507 made on December 2nd, 2009 at 3:18pm
hey darth hater.

should i be selected, id simply likee to know if the imperial agent is gonna be entirely "stealth" gameplay, a bit like in splinter cell as fas as mmo goes (always going in cover, be invisible, only sneeking around) or if they're gonna be able to stand and fight too like other class like the bounty hunter would do.
in short i want to know if the IA is gonna get pigeon-holed to sneaking around of if they'll be able to do some real firefighting, a 50/50 ~ 65/45 sneaking/firefighting balance is in my term what id consider has a yes to my question.

if it's been asked than...is tatooine a playable planet. I wants me some pearls

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on December 2nd, 2009 at 4:37pm
I don't know if it means anything, but I've noticed TOR has thus far only had planets not from Star Wars Galaxies. If we go by that, we won't see Tatooine, but BioWare could surprise us.

My question revolves around the other side of customizing. What sort of races will we be able to choose from? Will Jawas be one of them? I've also been wondering how credits are going to work. Is it going to take bit to earn some desent credits or is it goin to be something thats easily atainable through quests?

My question is did you get to play through any quests? and if so how did the questing feel? did the "3rd Pillar" that Bioware has been telling us about for so long vastly improve the grindy questing that we are (or at least I am) so tired of in the current MMO's?

Did the combat really feel as heroic as BW makes it sound? I mean, it looks really sweet, and getting rid of an "auto attack" type system I think is a big improvement, but how did you guys feel about the combat in general?

Comment by Venon made on December 1st, 2009 at 11:37pm
My Question:

Based on what you have seen so far, what is your current opinion on the gear/loot/crafting system? Will we have many options when it comes to say, wearing just a robe or heavy armor as a Jedi Knight? How much can we play with the athstetics of our characters without changing stats?

Thank you very much.

Comment by Traphik made on December 1st, 2009 at 10:46pm
My question : From what have you experienced what features have you seen that support the MMO part of an MMORPG in social group adventure and PvP aspects. Will we be around other people of our same faction much and will we have oppurtunity to converse with the opposite faction, if even at all?

Thanks

I find your lack of space combat disturbing.

Comment by Sztanyi made on December 1st, 2009 at 9:53pm
So up until the last 2 classes were revealed, TOR seemed to be a completely new and revolutionary MMO, not only because of the focus on story, but because it seemed as if raiding may be achieved in a new way, breaking away from the typical healer / dps / tank trio.
With the introduction of a healer class this seemed to change completely. What are your thoughts on this, does this change your view of TOR, and are any of you disappointed by this, happy, or expecting this all along?

Thank you for reading, you guys are awesome and I appreciate all of your efforts for keeping this website up.

My Question:
How do you think the balancing will work out, not only between classes, but between factions?

Comment by snafu made on December 1st, 2009 at 6:55pm
Let's say there is an in-game quest where there are 3 pegs, and on one peg there lie 3 rings. The quest objective is to move the 3 rings from the first peg to the last peg. However, the middle ring can not be placed above the top ring, and the bottom ring can not be placed above either the middle ring or the top ring.

How would I be able to move all three rings to the last peg and complete the quest?

This is important.

How much info did you receive or see on the way characters have their talent points/skills laid out from the basic class skill set to the later two specialisation spec ‘trees’ (can it be compared to the branching trees of WoW, the blocks of four skills like in DA:O? etc etc).

Oh, if you saw any other of the actually official spec names like “Gunslinger” -)

Customization. Not weapons or armor, but physical customization. How customizable is our character's face (eyes, nose, mouth, etc) and body (height, weight, muscles, etc) going to be? Are we going to have sliders or preset head and bodies to choose from and be able to only alter minor stuff like hair, eye color etc?

I know they kinda answered this during PAX, but they gave a slightly different answer the second time they were asked about it and they weren't exactly clear about it.

BTW it's one question. I just wanted to make clear exactly what I was asking :P

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on December 1st, 2009 at 7:26pm
Bounty Hunters aren't Mandalorians, Jango and Boba were the exceptions because Jango grew up as a Mando before he became a BH, and Boba followed suit.

How will getting gear for your companion work? Say you have a piece of gear that is BOE that you use because it is better then what you are currently using, but you find something that is even better will you be able to give the equipment that is binded to you to your companion?

Comment by Darkcrest made on December 1st, 2009 at 4:17pm
My question would be. How customizable are your characters. i'm not talking about skills, more along the lines of clothing and armor. Are we locked into a special look for each class or is there other options? Now I understand that a person player a trooper should look like a trooper same with Jedi and Sith. But Classes like BH, Smuggler and IA I don't see think there is a real need

Comment by Ulnir made on December 1st, 2009 at 3:29pm
I would love to know if the crafting proffesions have been designed in a new and different way from other games we have come to know.
For instance, crafting proffesion "Slicing".. where you would have a slicer on your team/group in missions in order to hack into lifts/doors etc to make flashpoints or instances easyer. Perhaps accompanied by a slicing minigame to add an extra twist and keep people interested.
I think something like this would make crafting even more essential to the gameplay experience, imo. Would love to find out if this is the case or what more traditional-style crafts are in game.

Comment by airia made on December 1st, 2009 at 2:49pm
How will Allegiance and Factions work within the game when it comes to PvP and "end game" PvE content? Currently its been revealed that the Jedi Consular will have a more traditional healing spec while none of the Sith have been revealed to have that ability, will the galatic republic and sith empire classes be able to play and work together based on faction?

Comment by Aurie made on December 1st, 2009 at 1:47pm
My question is regarding exploration and vastness of the planets. Specifically, can you freely go anywhere on a given planet or are there 'invisible boundaries'. The best examples I can give are in SWG. All of the original planets (like Tatooine) allowed you to go absolutely anywhere and the only boundaries where at the edges of the planet map; however, when they introduced the Wookie home world (Kashyyyk) for some bizarre reason they dramatically restricted movement with invisible boundardies and hills you couldn't climb, etc....I really hope they adopt the wide open model....any insights from what you've seen?

And, btw, you guys do a great job with the web site; thank you and keep it up!

Comment by kamakaze189 made on December 1st, 2009 at 5:50pm
I totally agree with you Aurie, i really want limitless exploration with the exceptiono of when you get to the edge of the planet. That would be really awsome but sadly i dont think they will do it. If they did i would be really suprised and happy. But to do that, it would require a lot more servers and time and money spent on that, but given that LucasArts has a *blank check* (unlimited money), it might be possible if they spent the extra *time* needed to do it.

Comment by Aurie made on December 1st, 2009 at 8:20pm
I'm hopefull based on their characterization of the planets as being 'very large'; if that's an accurate description you would think that they would almost have to have wide open areas to explore. However, in all the screen shots I've seen, it appears there are always mountains or other objects surrounding the screen shot that don't look like they could be climbed....another form of invisible barriers.

So is this the Big Thing for December 3rd? Just a QA with y'all?

And on this QA, it might help us ask more helpful questions if you tell us exactly what they showed off to y'all there. All I know is they showed y'all Agent, Consular, and Inquisitor, and questions about them would be very narrow and possibly redundant given all the coverage on other sites. Can you give a hint of what all you saw so we can give better questions that have an actual chance at being answered?

Comment by Zenkei made on December 1st, 2009 at 12:49pm
Nice try.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on December 1st, 2009 at 1:09pm
I'm being serious. If we don't even know where to focus our questions, this is a waste of time, where 1 in 100 questions may actually be about whatever you saw at LucasArts. It wasn't me trying to find out wtf you saw, it was just me trying to get y'all to help make sure our questions aren't 99% wasted. "Ask us questions about what we saw at LucasArts, even though we can't actually tell you what we saw." Be vaguer much?

Plus my question of this being the Big News that is also on December 3rd.

December 3rd Q&A is more of an indepth look at what we know, and allows you to get more clarification on questions you may have asked. We can't, in anyway, give any hints as to what we know, because it would violate the embargo

And to answer your question, no, the Q&A is not the big news

Comment by Draklo made on December 1st, 2009 at 11:44am
So seeming as we're going to be having companions join us in the game and we'll be building a "relationship" of sorts with them with the idea of they may approve of x but they'll dissaprove of y, it had me thinking of whether this would be something that also happens with other players in the game seeming as conversations can have more than one player in them? For example looking at the 20 minute developer gameplay diary that was released, when on the black talon, if the bounty hunter wanted to keep the captain alive, but the sith warrior went ahead and killed the captain, this would cause the bounty hunter to dissaprove of the sith warrior. Whereas if they both agreed to spare the captain the bond between the two players would grow. Maybe providing bonuses to future convsersations such as together they are more persuasive, intimidating or something along those lines that would benefit them grouping together again.

But that would be really complicated to implement and a lot of data would be needed just to store what events 1 person did with a bunch of other people throughout the course of leveling let alone what the entire population of the game is going to be doing with each other.

Comment by Draklo made on December 1st, 2009 at 12:32pm
Basicly would it be possible to have a system with other player characters similar to NPC companions with whether they approve/disapprove of you?

Trying to keep it simple im saying player X does one thing that player Y would rather not, so if player X looked at player Y's character sheet it would show player Y disaproves of player X.

Then what effect would this have on the game? Would it affect conversations where an extra dialogue choice would appear when the two players are together that could be used to persuade, intimidate, bribe etc. Or maybe a combat effect? Together the two players can work in a team and recieve a buff when they are near eachother or something similar.

From a technical perspective, I have no idea if this would be hard to implement or strain the servers but it doesn't seem to different from having the same sort of thing happening with a NPC character. I guess it could affect the amount of data each character has if they start building hundreds of relationships thus straining the servers, but I have little knowledge of these things.

Comment by ValiceKohn made on December 1st, 2009 at 12:43pm
With-out a ton of knowledge on the coding of something this complex but to me it seem's like this would be extremely hard to do. But man I sure would love something like that, I just don't know if it's possible at this time, imo.

Comment by Ulnir made on December 1st, 2009 at 3:23pm
I can't see something like this being any more complicated than the tome of knowledge in warhammer online. It stores tons of info on player activitys throught their gameplay experience. There are even mods to show your individual score/kill-death spread against individual players of the other faction.
I think if kept simple this could be an interesting idea.
Perhaps only have 6 things that the server records about other players. (likes to agree/dissagree/indifferent. friend/foe/indifferent) or something like that. If that made any sense ^^.

My question:

How much skill was involved in the combat? Did it seem like a monkey could do it, or did it seem like you really had a chance to hone your skills?

Also, love the site, keep up the good work.

Awesome news Darth-Hater! I would love to sit in on that.

My question to bioware is:
Can you elaborate on the healing class impact to the community that has arisen since the mention of a consular "healing path" (aka Trinity Discussion) and what do we need to know to set our minds at ease for the sith side of that coin? Will this work like a conventional Trinity?

Comment by Deidare made on December 1st, 2009 at 11:01am
(First of by register I'm assuming you guys mean created a valid account on the website? Correct?)
And my Question I'd want to ask you is: Do you know if there will be any other "races" playable other than the human, if so, what races? (And do they have special "Race" attributes?)

Comment by ValiceKohn made on December 1st, 2009 at 12:40pm
Not knocking you here Deidare, but why do people think "Only Human's" are a playable species? There is already proof that yes other races than "Human's" will be available.

Comment by Deidare made on December 1st, 2009 at 6:28pm
Actually I know there wouldn't only be one race, I only took that into my question because some people actually do think that way, even after BW said there be more. I'm not that ignorant to say the least, lol. ;)

Comment by Xavier made on December 1st, 2009 at 2:00pm
Sean Dahlberg himself confirmed this a while back. He said "Yes there wil be playable races other than humans. We just haven't confirmed which races will be available yet." Hope that helps, I'm with you though, I would like to know more.

Comment by chronium made on December 1st, 2009 at 11:47am
to answer the first part of your question yes there are going to be other playable races.

What are the specializations of the classes?
Who will have healing abilities at the imperial side? I mean abilities besides out-of-combat self-heal. =)

What is known about end game content? Specifically the comments I've read about it being tied in with the story.

Will there be Player Bounties for the Bounty Hunters? (i.e. will those who roll as a bounty hunter be able to kill other players as part of their careers, not just NPCS)

Thanks in advance guys. Your doing a stellar job at gathering info, keep it up! :D

With the hands-on being strictly focused on the second pillar: combat.

Was their any focus on the combat system in terms of combo points within abilities and then chaining with other characters in your group?

Comment by Okinyo made on December 1st, 2009 at 8:01am
What is the release date? Is there space combat and if so, how do you travel from planet to planet? ( Can you fly your craft to another planet or do you simply spawn from spaceport to spaceport? )

Comment by BizzzIMO made on December 1st, 2009 at 7:57am
My question would have to be: What is the combat system like, and what new combat information did you guys aquire during your awesome trip to San Fran =)

Comment by GreenT made on December 1st, 2009 at 7:48am
I, too, won't be able to join the ventrillo myself due to US-Europe time differences. Thus, no code is necessary.

I have, however, one question, and would be obliged if you could answer it:

If you saw some live gameplay (similarly to Pax walkthorugh video, for instance, with developers playing few classes live on the stage):
Does it seem that skill usage in combat is smooth and the game's UI is reacting quickly?
I mean the animations I have seen so far are generally ok, but I'm asking about the server-client response time.
Might be hard to spot that, I know. But, perhaps you somehow got the general feeling...

BTW thanks for all the work and research on SWTOR! Great source of info you are.

(thanks for this opportunity guys, great job in advance :) - also, please don't send me anything because i will be unable to join a ventrilo at that particular time and day. all the best though )

My question: It looks to me like companion characters will be NPC's you run into during your travels - how is Bioware going to make it look not-so-silly when four people all have the same companion character? Or am I completely off here?

Example conversation: "How is your Atton? Darkside? Oh mine's Light. Yeah I turned him dark in this quest. Made him look ugly though. I met a guy with an Atton that had a rifle, that was weird."

What part of: "ONE QUESTION" did everyone misread here. Seriously guys try to keep this a little proper? I know you're all exited about the game, but lets try to find out as much as we can by being smart about it, rather than obliterate our chances for any info by spamming questions.

Itemizing! The game has changed quite a bit since the E3 demo model, did you notice anything different or noteworthy about the inventory system or gear slots (like what bonuses an heirloom might give)?

Do each of the classes 2 "paths" come with their own set of customization points, akin to talent points? Or are the "paths" the talent trees themselves?

Comment by jfulmer made on December 1st, 2009 at 4:20am
space combat...nuff said?
No seriously I would really like any sort of hint pertaining to how space exploration and combat will be implemented in game.
I would also like to know if the consular and inquisitor will be able to solo the game themselves just like any other class, considering they are primarily a support class it seems.

**Any further details on the morality system? Specifically, will it have an effect on game-play mechanics or simply the story of the game you play? **

Any viewing of tradeskills, vendors, auction house, or other instances of an economic meta-game?

Any chance to see companion characters and any ability to flesh out more of their functionality?

What was the most interesting workspace you came across?

Comment by eria made on December 1st, 2009 at 3:10am
While I work that night and won't be able to tune in live, I wanted to throw a couple questions out.

Did you get to see any of the paths for the classes, and if so, which ones?

How exactly will healing work, if you saw it? Is it similar to WoW with casted heals, or is it more of hots or maybe passive abilities or auras. Do you see it being more like WoW in that it's there to prevent death, or more like Warhammer in that it's there to just slow down death?

Is Yoda's race playable? =p

There is litle to no info know about yodas race, it doesn't even have a name infact. Plus since hes so small, I don't think we'll play as him ;P

I was going to just ask about the Smuggler career paths but, did BW/LA go into more detail about the two distinct paths for all 8 classes with you? If so, can you share that info with us at this time?

Thanks guys.

So many questions I have and hopefully you can answer this one:

If you created a character; what level of customization is available for character creation? In specifics, besides my obvious concerns about facial features etc; is there a way to customize the way you hold your lightsaber? i.e. behind the back the way Starkiller does in The Force Unleashed.

Comment by ValiceKohn made on November 30th, 2009 at 11:39pm
I'm not sure if this is really an important question for most of you but to me it is, lol so here we go...

Was there any mention or talk of a possible Mac port/OS release time frame? And if not why?

Did you get to see what happened when you die? As in go to the graveyard, or... what?
Would really like to know how bioware is handleing death.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on December 1st, 2009 at 12:28pm
At the Trooper showing off at some game convention, a player died, and the button said "Return to Med Center" or something. So it looks like we'll be reappearing back at a med center in a bacta tank when we "die". Basically like how the Wampa "killed" Luke in ESB, he woke up in a bacta tank.

DH Team
Comment by Zoidberg made on December 1st, 2009 at 4:43pm
But before you wake up in a bacta tank you are stuck hanging upside down in a cave with your weapons just out of reach.

Well im not sure what kind of information you guys know, but im going to take a stab and ask this one.

How will healing work on the empire side, with no specific healing class. How will this effect the sith endgame experience?

Comment by chronium made on December 1st, 2009 at 9:37am
Well since the Sith side is made up of more independent classes that do not normally work with other people it would seem that they're all going to have self buffs and heals and very little help the party abilities.
