This may look like a slight face lift to the casual observer, but under the hood, we built a whole new engine from scratch to power Darth Hater. Before we roll out additional features, we would like you to kick the tires by giving us your comments and feedback.

Please note the following:

If you created an account on our old site, we preserved your login information and request you update your account by logging in above.

For those who did not register to post comments on Darth Hater, your comments are not lost, but you will need to register in order to post future ones.

I just noticed something, not sure if it's a bug or if it's intended. If I login to DH from Internet Explorer, it logs out my Chrome tab of DH. If I login my Chrome tab of DH, it logs out my IE tab. The old site used to allow being logged into multiple browsers on the same computer, so I would guess there is a bug. I don't know any of the coding behind how any of it works though, so I leave it to y'all. It's not a big deal, since I can post just fine in either browser, and it'd be redundant to comment in both browsers at the same time. Just something I noticed.

Comment by chronium made on March 22nd, 2010 at 9:40pm
They're probably using a different cookie that doesn't allow multiple logins. It's probably getting overwritten and erases everything before instead of adding to it.

Comment by chronium made on March 18th, 2010 at 3:42pm
Well it's been a weak and one site design feature I would like to see changed and/or made a option in the control panel is replace the most commented topics box with a most recent comment box and move the commented box down to the bottom of the list. I would like to see that so it would be easier to keep track of new comments even on old topics.

As evidenced by my comment below, I agree with this. :)

Small bug - the total number of comments inside the the news items are off, some are off just by 1 post but others are off by 4 or more posts. It could just be a delay in the database or something not too sure.

Yeah it was a delay it took a couple of minutes before the missing posts showed up.

That's basically the website telling us that there is a post in queue for approval. Little development thing, we might change that in the future.

Small bug came up that when you reset your account it breaks it. So it would be advisable to not try to reset your account for now. If you account was broken by the issue please send us an email using the contact form and we will fix it for you.

Update: Fixed.

Not to keep spamming it up, and I know this isn't a big deal, but I really miss the "Recent Comments" box on the side. It helped me keep up to date on where all the latest posts are being made at. Without it, I have to remember how many comments each post has and skim down the main page for changed comment numbers. The right side column on the site is fairly compact now, seems like there could be room for it if y'all were open to re-adding it. Possibly below "Links"/"Core Team" and above "Tag Cloud"? Just a suggestion, since I know I at least loved the Recent Comments box.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on March 12th, 2010 at 8:17pm
My profile says I have the title of Member, so why isn't it displayable? I was guessing it'd be displayable like the DH Team's "DH Team" title below their names in posts.

Actually signatures aren't working period so I am assuming that's a feature that is a work in progress or just for the forums that is not out yet?

Annoying bug with your news system. It's using the authors clock for when a news item gets posted instead of using a standardized time like the servers clock. In this case the Friday update gets buried by 2 other posts that were posted before the Friday update happened.

Also I find the order of replies to a persons comment to be backwards I prefer and am used to oldest first but it seems it's currently posting newest first. It's specifically happening when 2 or more people reply to the same post.

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on March 12th, 2010 at 5:27pm
Hasn't DH using Newest at Top since the start? It's just how the site does its think. Or do you mean some quirk with replies? That's understandable I guess, I've found 2 or 3 quirks myself. It's a work in progress though, so it's to be expected. It's very usable considering how new it is for all of us to work with. :P

Comment by chronium made on March 12th, 2010 at 7:21pm
It's a quirk with replies, with what I am talking about. You can see what I mean with your reply and Orionark's. What's usualy done is Orionark's reply would be first and then your reply would be below it but instead it's flipped them with the newest reply first. But if you replied Orionark instead of replying to my post then the tree works normally with the oldest post first. So instead of a more organized list the whole tree goes out of whack with long conversations and makes it confusing finding new posts.

Comment by Orionark made on March 12th, 2010 at 3:44pm
Pretty soon here we'll be adding a preferences panel to your Control Panel that allows you to set whether you want comments to show newest to oldest or oldest to newest.

Would be cool to see AJAX (or whatever) on the log-in form so we don't leave the page when logging in. That's the only feature on the wordpress that I liked better. The rest you absolutely destroyed ^.^ gj

Comment by engrey made on March 11th, 2010 at 9:22pm
Being at work and on my laptop the site seems to scale better and look better on smaller screens. My laptop and work monitor are 15 and 17'', my home monitor is 24''. The colors and way things looks seems a bit sharper on a lower resolution and screen size, but maybe that is just me.

It appears there's a small bug when you try to hit refresh or back on your browser after commenting that can cause double postings. To avoid doing this while we work out a solution don't hit the "resend" button if it pops up in the browser, simply re-click the article title to refresh the post after posting a comment.

Comment by Orionark made on March 12th, 2010 at 12:45am
Most of the comment bugs should be fixed now.

Comment by dege made on March 11th, 2010 at 6:20pm
The new design is wonderful, the right and top menus are great

However, while I really like the podcast feed on the main page, it is not accessible from the posts.

Another addition to the podcast feed would be to have it streamed in a frame with 0 size then you can reload or follow links on the site without interrupting the sound. I'm no expert at html and js but I believe something along those lines would work.

Just a suggestion, if you got to kill some spare time.

Anyway, kudos to this amazing website

Comment by sado made on March 11th, 2010 at 6:38pm
We'll add the feed to it, guess it was just one of those things that slipped the mind last night. We'll also try to see if there's a way we could code a popout for the player so you can keep viewing. I'll be sure to update you when we do it.

The next step of becoming SWTOR's MMO-Champion. To show my apreciation of the new page, i contribute to the color scheme via my avatar. Keep it going

PS: You need a Forum Comments are cool, but a little outdated for the use on a big page like this

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on March 11th, 2010 at 6:23pm
I've always found it ironic that MMO-Champion is WoW-specific, given its name isn't WoW-specific. Boubille should've expanded MMO-Champion to cover other MMOs, since he has a nice non-game-specific site name/url. Currently it's more like WoW-Champion or something.

It wont until later on as it has dependencies with other features. We'll talk about that at some point soon.

Comment by Asomatous made on March 11th, 2010 at 4:09pm
Very nice update, Kudos, may I suggest collapsed comments so you can only read topic of comment and click the + to expand only if you want to read.

Way to go.

Here is an example

http://www.dailytech.com/Report+IPhone+OS+40+Will+Bring+True+Multitasking+This+Summer/article17878.htm

Browsing all those comments and finding what you want to read could be a pain in the arse, click the collapse all button and you can check all ideas behind comment a lot faster then when everything is expanded.

Only one thing I cannot find... Where is the Media section, with Screenshots, etc. I often referred friends interested in the game to this site, so that they can actually see the in-game screenshots in a single easy-to-navigate place. DH.com was much better than the official TOR site for this. However, I cannot find that section here. Are you planning to add this to the main menu at the top? I hope so

For those that are wondering about the link problems with Steam and SWTOR.com accounts:

You need to put in the entire link for that field. Example - http://swtor.com/community/member.php?u=71621 would be mine. Do not try to link your accounts yet by using the name. We are working on a way to parse the name into a link but for now use the entire link.

Comment by DirectX made on March 11th, 2010 at 10:06am
Two friendly suggestions. Move the GDC banner. It doesn't flow with the design and stands between me and your main news posts. Second, get rid of the orange boxes on the 3 featured items that say how many "days ago" they were posted. It looks less aesthetically pleasing and to a casual observer may seem like you don't update as much as you actually do.

Minor things though, great work

Comment by chronium made on March 11th, 2010 at 8:49am
It's a great design I just have a few issues, the registration should not require our postal code that's a major issue with me. The minor issues is that the GDC banner in it's current position throws the entire top part of the site off, I suggest aligning it up with the podcast button above the news to even things up.

The font size in the new comment box is smaller then what we'll see in the post, I'm actually finding it hard to read what I am typing from where I am sitting.

Finally the links and team member boxes should be evened out possibly use a couple of points larger font size.

Minor bug - on the page "this post has successfully been edited" my avatar disappears at the login section of the site.
