The second surprise for our anniversary week is an exclusive preview from an upcoming issue of the Star Wars:™ The Old Republic™ Blood of The Empire™ comic.

If you want to avoid a spoiler, don't click the link below. Instead, convince a friend to partake in the Star Wars: The Old Republic Comic-Con social network challenge or finalize your answers for Darth Hater's Threat of Peace™ contest.

However, if you want to help us figure out why the Hater community received this particular Blood of The Empire panel for our anniversary week (or what it might hint at for the game), then feel free to do what we all do best: speculate in comments.

I'm convinced that the blue saber wielder is a Miraluka -and- I'm convinced that this Sith gets into lots of trouble.
Ooh, goody! : )

Oh oh I know! Info incoming on PvP!

(I really have no clue, but it's fun speculating :) )

Is that Jedi fighting the Sith a Miraluka?! It just might be http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miraluka

Comment by Drenarb made on July 16th, 2010 at 8:29pm
I think it's the Miraluka from earlier in the comics from the Republic fleet.

Comment by Wenthron made on July 15th, 2010 at 10:03pm
Looks cool... Although it may just be a simple present for 1 year of existence. If there is any info hidden among its pixels I know not what it is.

Wasn't that Sith dude dead?

Comment by Dezminak made on July 15th, 2010 at 8:56pm
I checked all the BoTE issues, and have not seen that screen anywhere, not even in the new releases... WOOT! Now i'm excited! I am also a huge fan of the Miraluka, can't wait to learn more!

All of you have it all wrong i know what it is....

the sith warrior is holding a duel bladed lightsaber.

Maybe right? who knows.

Comment by Bencor made on July 16th, 2010 at 1:03am
He's had a double bladed LS in all the other BotE issues. He seems to be an Inquisitor.

Comment by cRab_bAttLe made on July 15th, 2010 at 11:13pm
I don't think he is a warrior.

Comment by Stomp made on July 15th, 2010 at 8:59pm
This is the first thing I thought as well.

This panel isn't published online anywhere else, as far as we can tell. We don't know what issue it is from.

On a side note, [Website feedback] Props on the Banner and wrapping Border book artwork on the front page. Looks nice. :- )

The ability to bend your left elbow backwards... I dunno about you guys, but that was the feature I've been waiting for.

Comment by Njits made on July 15th, 2010 at 2:34pm
i think its a saber clash mecanic in the game like when you both strike at the same time your sabers
get clashed at each other and you have to like tap something like in tfu to win it
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2105/2251606224_7d8731062a.jpg

and both of them are wearing a white bandana around there heads coincidense?

Comment by Evolancer made on July 15th, 2010 at 4:52pm
Yes, it will be interesting to see a such feature implemented. But it will be tough particularly in a MMO. Delay, ping parameters have to be taken in account. Moreover tap repeatedly a button is more fitted to consoles, but I may be wrong once again.

Comment by Shadowslain made on July 15th, 2010 at 2:06pm
Stubble as an available facial appearance customization?

Comment by cRab_bAttLe made on July 15th, 2010 at 12:48pm
At a quick glance I thought it was a sith vs sith but it isn't.
My guess a playable race and neeto jedi armor.

Comment by Evolancer made on July 15th, 2010 at 12:18pm
My try, but it can be total BS:
-As others said, Miraluka is a playable race, and take risks saying it will only be played by the Republic, like the Chiss will only be playable by the Empire.

-DH will be honored and featured in the game somehow or other.

It was indeed total bs =(

Comment by cdstephens made on July 15th, 2010 at 1:28pm
Err...why would they be honored or featured in the game....?

Comment by XANE made on July 16th, 2010 at 12:45am
They could put trade items like "sith pancakes" in little orange boxes!

Comment by Evolancer made on July 15th, 2010 at 4:54pm
Don't mind, it was more fantasy than speculation. My original post didn't have that much of value. I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware awards DH in the game on the other hand.

Comment by Caliber made on July 15th, 2010 at 12:34pm
It's a double-bladed lightsaber. The sparks are generated from saber contact and you can see the red blade with some simulated motion blur.

Comment by Elkesai made on July 15th, 2010 at 3:58pm
They eventually got lightsabers right in other comics, but it looks like they took a step backwards in the art in Blood of the Empire. Which follows that Threat of Peace took about eight steps back.

It somewhat mirrors what is happening with TOR--saber blur looked great in KotOR, looking very fluid ALL THE TIME. It seems in TOR that it only appears when using an ability or special move, leaving the rest of the swings looking very clunky and amateur fan film-ish.

Sorry if I went off topic--I didn't see what the original post was before it got edited.

Comment by Evolancer made on July 15th, 2010 at 12:55pm
ah true. My eyes are tired ^^
I edit my comment .

@ Elkesai, my post was basically speculation on the basis that the Sith was wielding a single bladed lightsaber, my eyes didn't catch the right part of the weapon at first.
- I said that Maul specced Inquisitors could dps efficiently with a single bladed saber
- That there will be several grips ( one handed and double handed )
But it was totally wrong.

......cool?

As for how you got this, probably the same way people are getting this. http://www.mycomics.de/content/star-wars-old-republic-ii-kapitel-7.html (Replace the 7 with an 8 for issue 8). If you don't want spoilers, I advise not clicking on the link.

Sado orange background!

As others have said, the Jedi's race is the only thing of note.

kekeke -- thought that too about the background! :)

I'm looking at this image and honestly the first thing that stands out to me are the tube like devices on the Jedi's gloves. I'm not sure what in the world they could be for, med packs perhaps? Of course it could be hinting at more pvp aspects too. Teneb seems to be bringing his blade up to stop the two-handed swing from the Jedi.

It's an awesome gift though. ^_^

Comment by s1rr34l made on July 15th, 2010 at 3:01pm
what if the tubes on the jedimaster are bars of pure cortosis ore ? any lightsaber hitting it would short out for a period. :P

Some sort of medical gadget sounds more likely though.

Comment by BlamedCat made on July 15th, 2010 at 9:01pm
That's a cool idea, but yeah, since he's not storing anything on his belt. It makes sense.

Comment by JediCosmin made on July 15th, 2010 at 11:11am
Also I have to admit, that the Jedi's robe is really beautiful. Even if it is just drawn on paper :P
The Black and white tunic under the traditional brown robe gives the Jedi a great aspect.

Comment by BlamedCat made on July 15th, 2010 at 9:04pm
I absolutely agree! And the way the belt seems to pop visually really pulls it together. ^_^

Comment by JediCosmin made on July 15th, 2010 at 9:17am
I believe that is the Miraluka Jedi Master we've seen from the previous pages.
Poor Teneb still looks injured.

I certainly hope that this is a hint from BioWare that the Miraluka race will be playable :D. If that happens, I'm gonna have a VERY difficult time at choosing my race. For now, I still think I'm going to go human :P

Comment by Dasmordo made on July 16th, 2010 at 10:31am
I sure hope so, It would be nice to play the Miraluka race for both Jedi/Sith.

Comment by r2d2arm made on July 15th, 2010 at 9:57am
Yup, fairly certain it is the Jedi Master previously seen. That preview itself suggests a possible species reveal as you do mention in your comment. Nothing else stands out.

Comment by Brixz made on July 15th, 2010 at 9:09am
My only question, just at first glance of this panel, is what is on his face? Is that some type of mod above the bridge of his nose or what exactly. Granted I haven't followed the comics as much as I should, so not sure if it is shown in other panels...

Could it imply some sort of bio-attachement like we saw in KOTOR?

Thats all I got... :) Cool Anniversary gift though! hehe

Comment by Xavier made on July 15th, 2010 at 10:29am
Brixz,
I believe it is just part of the apparatus keeping his blindfold on. Miraluka didn't have eyes. So they wore blindfolds, eyepatches, and the like to hide there appearance. It was less unsettling for other species.
