, posted July 23rd, 2010 at 11:34 AM
This week's friday update is a Fan Friday which includes some nice screens of Cathars, new avatars, new polls, and fan art from the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ community:

Take a look at the incredible creations were spotlighting from the Star Wars The Old Republic Community and check out the Developer Corner to see new content the team wants to share with you!

More after the jump.

Sean Dahlberg also adds a little hint that today's reveals may not be over quite yet:

Also, make sure to check in on the "Beyond Solo" panel at Comic-Con to see if we have any more reveals today...

Last but not least was a mention of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™: Fatal Alliance which hit bookshelves earlier this week:

Initially revealed last December, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™: Fatal Alliance has hit the shelves! Written by bestselling author Sean Williams and published by Del Rey Books, this novel takes place only a few years after the Sacking of Coruscant.

When a Smuggler discovers the legacy of a lost world onboard a derelict starship, a dangerous secret is brought to life. Allegiances shift as Jedi, Sith, Republic Troopers, and Imperial Agents maneuver for political power and personal gain. Ultimately, enemies must put aside their distrust to defend the galaxy against a threat of unthinkable proportions.

As an exclusive to The Old Republic Community, read the first chapter of Fatal Alliance before you head out to your local bookstore to pick up your copy!

For those interested in Fatal Alliance, we have a Dissection of the novel. Stay tuned to Darth Hater for updates from Comic-Con.

Why did BW change the wallpaper sizes with these 6 new ones? Now there isn't one for 1024*768, but instead some weird 1024*691 variation. The other sides are likewise weird. Did BioWare decide everyone uses widescreen monitors?

Not gonna lie, those Cathar are amazing. Some of the best models to date.

I really hope they are playable.

Nice Cathar screens.
If they announce both Miraluka and Cathar races... then I have absolutely no idea what race I'm going to pick :)

If 'Species as Class Background' is the norm, I guess it depends on which Class you want ;) Or Species first, Class second?

Comment by JediCosmin made on July 23rd, 2010 at 3:05pm
Nope, Jedi Knight first priority :P
But what we've seen in the comic and if you look at the fact that Juhani was a Jedi...

Also, in the first developer walkthrough with the Sith Warrior and Bounty Hunter, I think the boss at the end was indeed a Cathar.

Fair point :) Vaguely hoping for Togruta as a Jedi Consular option here...

Miraluka or Kel Dor will be my "tough decision" race choice, if they are both available obviously.

Is G4 airing the panel? And will it be streamed online?

Comment by RogueJedi86 made on July 24th, 2010 at 11:43pm
Did they even air a TOR bit during the 4-hour Comic-Con special? I missed it earlier. If I had to guess, maybe they'll show a few clips of it on XPlay next week?

No G4 is most likely not airing the panel. Well Bioware might have someone from the video team their to record it but overall I only hope a fan brought a camera and uploads it on Youtube.

unlikely cause at the SW TFU II panel the audience were warned no filming.

Deb Shin mentioned on Twitter that G4 should be recording the panel. It won't be live.

The weeks till release are growing fewer, yet so much information about the game we still don't know about. Lets hope they have something more for us during Comic-Con.

They said after E3 the next big event would be PAX. So I would not expect much until September.

Comment by Fizl made on July 23rd, 2010 at 3:08pm
No the next big event is gamescon i beleieve and they are also going to be at Celebration V and a few others.

What they said was that PAX this year is going to be their largest even since the announcement of the game. but theres alot of events that they'll be at this year.

MMORPG's have a long history of sexism. (ex.- every female /dance in WoW).

Why would SWTOR break rank? : D

Who needs female Sith avatars when you have Rodians.

Comment by KindarMosfet made on July 23rd, 2010 at 2:11pm
That's just a great point. ;)

I could see a possible Cathar companion. As for playable species, not enough evidence to suggest that yet. New avatars and wallpapers were nice. Where's that Twi'lek from though? Don't remember her, but I could have missed something.

Let's see what Comic-Con will reveal! I expect something new at least.

Very exciting day Indeed. I love the Cathar models.
