BioWare's Daniel Erickson posted a response to an inquiry regarding a statement he made during a PAX booth conversation in a thread on the official forums:

Grel said:
You said,

If you can't imagine it making out with Princess Leia, you probably won't be able to play it.

I think a large response would be that many of us have very active imaginations, and can imagine quite a bit, but for some clarification, what can't YOU imagine?

Read on for Erickson's full response.

The video portion is above, and the transcription is after the jump. Enjoy.

As BioWare's Sean Dahlberg said about Star Wars: The Old Republic activities for E3:

If you mean our updates, yes. We'll be updating the website each day with something new from E3. The daily updates (meaning a new update each day) won't be starting until June 14th (in the afternoon). In fact, if you watch the count-down banner on the homepage, you'll know exactly when we'll first update the news article.

DH E3 Content:

...the Darth Hater team will have coverage from on-site at E3, and in-depth looks at the official updates every day.

Monday, June 21 at 6p PST / 9p EST - Live Q&A with the Darth Hater team on our Vent server to answer all of your questions. Set your Ventrilo client to vent.darthhater.com with port 26166 in order to participate.

No true Hater would be without proper attire, so we decided to make available for purchase to the general public four of the eight shirt designs the team is wearing at E3. Click on your favorite Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG pillar to purchase.

BioWare's Daniel Erickson posted details on the dialogue system in Star Wars: The Old Republic in a thread started by Ewoky.

The Mass Effect dialogue system worked exceptionally well for keeping the game fast and action-oriented, which is always that team's target. On Dragon Age we went for a more classic RPG approach with more options and the ability to dig into all the little details. The first option in dialogue was usually the most sensible one for a reasonable person in the situation. SWTOR is somewhere in the middle. We keep the story moving (nobody wants to sit there in a multiplayer game while their party member begs an NPC for more backstory) but we present the options based on the situation and the class or faction.

So in the Flashpoint that Altyrell mentioned, the kill option was on the top because it was an Imperial quest and being darkside is the default for their big faction choices. In the same manner the top option for Smugglers tends to be funny or flirty, Bounty Hunters tend to be all business, Consulars tend to be questioning and wise, etc. Then, of course, the rest of the options enable players to do something totally different with their characters. Want to be a hardcase Smuggler? A wry action hero Bounty Hunter? A charming Inquisitor? Choices are much broader than just good and evil.

Hope that helps!

One interesting difference between the Mass Effect and TOR dialogue systems is the positioning of options on the wheel. While in Mass Effect the top (default) option tends to fit good-aligned characters regardless of the character's alignment, the default in TOR character seems to match a character's alignment. Players who found the Mass Effect dialogue choices to be too black and white may see the inclusion of a wider variety of options as a welcome change.

Who doesn't love yellow text from Star Wars: The Old Republic developers throughout the week? First up is a lovely insight into the Sith Empire potentially looking down their noses at rare species from BioWare's Daniel Erickson:

Interesting thread. Yes, racism (speciesism?) is out there in TOR. It rears it head rarely in the multicultural Republic but being exotic in the Empire is an uphill battle to be sure.

So much for sharing a drink with a Elomin. More from BioWare writers after the jump.

Although the Star Wars: The Old Republic DevTracker was pretty quiet this week, BioWare Media Designer Robin Khamsi reminded us:

Yes, we do read the forums. Sometimes we even post.

Anyway back to the Inhabitants section. I think its fantastic, giving us some background info and some of the creatures we will fight (and maybe befriend). Brings the whole thing too life.

More from Daniel Erickson, Kyle Garner, Sean Dahlberg, and Charles Boyd after the jump.

More yellow text appeared on the Developer Tracker today from both Daniel Erickson and Rob Chestney about "Peace for the Republic?", the latest Star Wars: The Old Republic HoloNet Timeline entry.

First, Rob Chestney explained how the events portrayed in Obsidian's Knights of the Old Republic 2 are relevant to Star Wars: The Old Republic, but were not covered withing the Timeline series:

Hey Folks, always nice to see the healthy debate sparked by the Timeline pieces. I love Star Wars history and particularly anything relating to KotOR. Even though KotOR 2 was developed by another developer, lots of folks at BioWare played and enjoyed it, including myself. If you look closely within the game, you will find several references to events or characters from KotOR 2, and we absolutely treat it as canon. I will also say that there have been discussions about the final fate of the Exile, who was indeed a woman according to the canon.

In a thoughtful forum post, BioWare's Lead Writer, Daniel Erickson, expanded on a subject he touched on in our interview and again with Ars Technica: the misconceptions people may have about the Sith as the "bad" side of the galactic struggle of dominance.

An interesting thread. I always like to see what responses the philosophical discussions provoke. Hopefully people noticed that there were no quotes from me saying the Sith were good -- even the interviewer ended on it being an excuse to unleash ones hate. It was a clever title masking a more complex truth, which is that morality is shaped by culture and people. Genocide, slavery, human sacrifice and more horrific wars against people who have different beliefs than can be easily counted have all been part of the human experience and to my knowledge not one culture has ever stood up and said "We're doing this because were terrible people."

More after the jump.

Last week, LucasArts & BioWare extended an invitation to Darth Hater for another round of Star Wars: The Old Republic hands-on game play at the beautiful Presidio campus in San Francisco. Eager to take another look, Meg and I left GDC and made our way to Lucasfilm where we were treated to playing Level 6 Troopers on Ord Mantell, and also spoke in depth with Jake Neri of LucasArts and Daniel Erickson of BioWare.

While attending GDC last week, Darth Hater was fortunate enough to be invited out to the LucasArts office in San Francisco for a hands-on demo featuring the Trooper class. After finishing our time with the game we spoke with Daniel Erickson, Star Wars: The Old Republic's lead writer about the classes, their stories, and a few of the choices players will be facing in game.

Darth Hater was recently invited out to LucasArts' home base in San Francisco to get a look at the newest class in Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Imperial Agent. During our time at the studio we got to ask Jake Neri a few questions and we also saw a live demo focusing on some of the combat abilities utilized by this Sith sniper. Throughout the event we hastily scribbled notes, attempting to get a real understanding of how the Imperial Agent works, and we came away with some interesting discoveries.
