I think the Rendili mentioned with the Vanguard player ship may be Rendili Star Drive which is a company based on the planet Rendili so could this mean another planet possibility?

I actually don't understand the complaints about the language surrounding "Force energy" in the Deceived Novel. Jedi and Sith detect each other in the Force all the time, and a more powerful wielder of the Force gives off a stronger vibe. This is true in the movies and especially true in the EU. In fact, very powerful Force users sometimes develop skills to mask their presence in the Force for this very reason.

Good podcast! I didn't really think the coloration was suggestive of in-game content, but I guess it could be for dyes as was mentioned. I luckily have a few relatives in the LA area, but I've never gotten a chance to attend any of the conventions and such. Perhaps one day!

I most likely will on my own and crash at a friend's house.

I never thought about that dyeing feature you talked about, i only wondered why the armor pieces the characters are wearing fit so well together, because it is unlikely that you get full sets in low levels (like the sets we know from wow). Dyeing would give you the ability to turn every collection of random parts in a set-like full uniform. Especially for the trooper this would be important, since he is a military guy and should always have a consistently designed uniform.

The other side of the story is that many "simple minded" players would run around in pink and lime green suits, which would be really uncool. there had to be a compromise in order to prevent that....

Comment by Caliber made on June 29th, 2010 at 1:09pm
If people want to be pink or lime green or Sado orange, let them. It's completely arbitrary.

Comment by HarryTruman made on June 30th, 2010 at 12:05am
Well, it always comes down to having just enough player customization to maximize immersion. If you have too little customization everyone looks the same and they don't feel unique or part of the world, but if you have too much customization (hello Kitty Darth Vaders, etc.) then it breaks the immersion of the Star Wars universe and once again you don't feel like a part of that world.

Changing character body types is "arbitrary" too, but if you take it too far (like with Aion, I believe), then you're stuck with morbidly obese midgets running around because people think it's funny, and that again destroys immersion and the point of being in that fictional universe.

I find it funny how you all been bsing for 6 months roughly as stated an havent met each other in person until E3. Ive been gaming with 5 people since the start of swg an still do so everyday an havent met them in person yet. We all arent playing swg. Buts BS on TS3 everyday still.

A laid back pod cast this week. I'd like to comment on this beta thing. What I find odd is they havent confirmed or denied beta is even going on. But I most certainly expect some leaks an they best be good darnit.

CUSTOM ARMOR:

I am hoping for both:

- Dye/pattern/color pallet
- APPEARANCE/VANITY Tabs

Iirc, the devs said they have not added Appearance Tabs, but would it there was enough demand -- so if you want it, make sure to speak up for it (in the various polls, beta feedback, etc), rather than being passively quiet about it.

SMUGGLERS' COVER:

- I would have prefered to have seen a smuggler 'portable cover' mechanic, be something different as well -- rather than just a 'Blue Shield' as well'. At least they should give it a different graphics, or something.

Comment by Posiden made on June 29th, 2010 at 1:52pm
Appearance tabs pretty much destroys the whole point of making class/AC specific armor

Comment by Caliber made on June 29th, 2010 at 1:58pm
Unless the options are restricted to class/AC-specific armor choices.

Due to the specific references for rationalization of color usage to discern the classes by the developers in DD5, I'm kind of the black sheep in my opinion that I don't think they will allow dye customization on outfits.

I think it will only extend to weapons.

Comment by HarryTruman made on June 30th, 2010 at 12:08am
This is what I've been thinking too. If purples and blacks are the dominating colors of the Sith Inquisitor, for example, being able to dye their gear pink kind of ruins the whole point of it.

Comment by Nasqueron made on June 29th, 2010 at 10:47am
I remember when it was only smugglers that had the cover mechanic, I don't think I ever saw any complaints when they said Agents would be using it too. For me, it was always implied that if Agents had portable cover, Smugglers would have it too.

Comment by Kurrig made on June 29th, 2010 at 10:39am
Smuggler Cover:
I don't mind the smuggler getting the portable cover. I do mind them being the same graphic and color.

I think they should keep the shields in synch with saber color. Sith Red, Rep. Blue. Would also help spot targets in pvp.

On dyes:

It's worth noting that there is a line on the armor set image stating "Applying Coloration."

Also, I think the only color customization that we will see will be "accents," such as the stripes on Trooper armor.

In talking about the "auras" of force powers and such - i get the feeling bioware are trying to give the force a much more significant visual effect to make it more interesting ingame. They dont want 2 force users to run up to each other and just wave their arms around alot until one falls over, they seem to be giving it a substantial visual effect (the Hope trailer definitely backs this up with the consulars force powers).
