Great Podcast Gentlemen and Ladies (Lady? Not sure if there is one more besides Em), and thanks for having guests on the show. Very nice to hear some different voices/perspective after such a monumental event. Brooks Guthrie from Mos Eisley Radio is a pretty righteous dude.

Also thanks for running such a tight ship on updates from PAX. I'm sure it was daunting task and also very taxing, but thank you. It was an awesome gift to give us.

I figured it was different on account that it was for PAX.

I really don't get why everyone hates on the Wizard name myself. It was used in the first ever Star Wars movie. Sure it was an insult, but maybe the insult is just a reminder that the Jedi used to be abundant in the galaxy and now they are gone. So 3000 years before ANH... Wizard could very well be a name the Jedi call themselves.

Besides...Star Wars happened a long long time ago in a galaxy far away...so they had the word first ;)

I think the major reason for many folks, actually scratch that, let me speak for myself. The major reason for me is; the word wizard evokes imagery of D&D, Lord of the Rings, WoW, Warhammer, and Harry Potter. Personally, I'm extremely burned out on the High Fantasy MMO setting. This is why TOR is so exciting for me, I'm a life long Star Wars Geek and it represents two things I've been dying for in the MMO genre. Story, and a change of pace from the dreaded trinity. No, not that trinity, the Human/Dwarf/Elf trinity.

To then bring in a name that immediately evokes images of the genre I'm trying to escape is a bit of downer. Not so much that I won't get over it, but it is mildly annoying.

Also to put more emphasis on your comment, Bioware has stated many many times that the force is not magic so them using Wizard is just another thing to add to the list of contradictions that have come up throughout Tor's development.

I like Harry Potter :(

But I agree, the name Wizard would distract from the Star Wars vibe.

Em was hilarious in Vent trying to "decode" Pete's texts.

Nice podcast! I would love it if one of these conventions would come down south near or in Louisiana.

unfortunately those of us in the south have to travel for our video game cons. That being said, TOR is coming from the Austin studio so hopefully the game will be huge and we'll have a BioCon to check out in 2012 ;)

At least a guy can dream

Comment by Lugano made on September 9th, 2010 at 7:55pm
BioCon? Hell yes. I would go there in a heartbeat.

I noticed you said in the podcast that you were playing the DPS spec Trooper. I thought the DPS spec Trooper used the big turret gun.

Comment by salahdihn made on September 9th, 2010 at 1:46pm
They were playing low level characters if I recall correctly. They had been modified to have advanced class abilities so even though he played the DPS Trooper, he only wielded a regular blaster. This might even indicate that the big guns are level capped.

salahdihn puts it well. Wasn't entirely sure if it was because of that but it is definitely possible.

The HK "Facility" being the Star Forge or a second Star Forge would make sense. Star Wars: Death Star. Empire: No Death Star. RoTJ: New Death Star. KOTOR: Star Forge KOTOR 2: No Star Forge TOR: New Star Forge? A rebuilt super weapon is very Star Wars and would make sense to be in the game.

regarding HK 47 in SWG and why people love him... (HK will "tell" you this after you "killed" him)

HK-47 says, "I must admit that you almost make me wish I still needed a good master...almost. Your little grey brain must be getting confused at this point...I understand that happens a lot with your kind. I didn't survive for four thousand years in the husk of a ship just to be destroyed by a few lucky shots. I must be going now. I have made a list, first I need to visit those Neimodians, then I think I will go after the architects...don't worry you are far down the list. You amuse me. One last thing, I know that you meatbags like keepsakes....I have sent you one. You should start enjoying yourself, it won't take me long to get through my list."

(btw. the cloak dropped from that Jedi robot 2 steps before, HK could drop the one hand lightsaber schematic which in hundreds of runs never ever dropped in any group I went with)

Great podcast guys... again!
