Here is Darth Hater's dissection of the latest Developer Dispatch from Star Wars: The Old Republic, which focuses largely on the recently revealed Taris. As in our prior dissections, we will add new content in as we find it, so keep checking back. Feel free to let us know if you notice something we missed, and we will be happy to add it to our dissection with credit. Note: if something is mentioned in a prior dissection, then we do not reiterate it again here. Low bandwidth users should note there are numerous images contained in this article.

A few months ago we got a not-so-subtle tip from Rob Chestney that the Threat of Peace webcomic is an important asset for internet detectives following Star Wars: The Old Republic. For us here at Darth Hater, we see it as a relatively untapped well of gameplay and story information, possibly rivaling the Holonet. To this end we thought it might be a good idea to look at some of the more unusual or interesting clues that may be hidden in the art and story of the comic. Hit the jump for a fresh look at the Threat of Peace.

After a brief holiday vacation, our dissection of the Star Wars: The Old Republic 'Designing the Dark Side' video is now online. We unfortunately cannot credit anyone for the first finds as we did not create the usual thread on the forum for the dissection. We will continually add in new discoveries as we find them, so make sure to keep checking this post. Note: things we mentioned in prior dissections, we do not revisit again in this one. Dissection complete with our Orange Boxes after the jump.

Fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic were given a treat today with the announcement that the Imperial Agent will be a playable class. This may not be a surprising addition considering the amount of foreshadowing, but, with last weeks Jedi Knight reveal, the timing surprised nearly everyone. In addition to the reveal, we were also treated to four screenshots, giving us not only a look at the upcoming class, but also the graphics as a whole. So hit the jump, and let's take a closer look.

The release of a new Holonet page is always exciting for anyone following Star Wars: The Old Republic, doubly so for the few times we've been lucky enough to learn about a new class. The Class Holonet in particular acts like a buffet of knowledge, giving us many different facts and a few subtle and obvious clues. So lets take a look at what was revealed with this Friday's release of the Jedi Knight class.

While listening to the recent Developer Dispatch, we noticed a couple of interesting statements hidden within the broad generalizations and marketing lingo. In this article we are going to go over a few of the things said during the video, while we wait for a more high quality version to be available for visual analysis. As a note of caution, everything mentioned during this dissection is purely conjecture and speculation and should be treated as such.

Be warned there are quite a number of images contained in this post and will kill low bandwidth users. Note: Things mentioned in our prior dissections we do not mention in this one. There is also the thread on the forum if you would like to comment there. Thanks to Zoidberg and Sleeper for help on a few of the images.

I know there are many out there that are in the process of doing this or already have but I thought I would post what new info I found out of the IGN interview for the users on our site:

Several classes will be able to heal, no one class will be the set healer class
Healing not a requirement for the base core game
Customization in - custom equipment, possible raid content items talked about
Hints at discovering what Revan did in the world prior to your character's story
Several classes will share planets as starting zones
Some classes will revisit other starting worlds in on other quests
Other playable Races coming soon (said in the panel and alluded to in the interview)
Mac users - Use Bootcamp :(
More than one ability will use the jetpack function as a Bounty Hunter
Planets will be made up of multiple varying sized zones
Will be able to be played on a broad spec of PCs
Dark and Light system for every character, light or dark side
Companion characters can betray you, become more loyal, and love (romance) you
Two intertwined stories, your story, and the over arching story of the world around you in the conflict
Jedi will not be overpowered, will make sense
Reiterated what we saw the trailer about taking enemies on in groups rather than just one-on-one to make you feel more heroic
Mindless grind 'no more'

There is a moment in the newest video documentary that Mfavila on the forum caught where Taris (the planet Revan visted in the Kotor series) is mentioned very briefly. Apparently Taris is referred to in a tiny bit of dialogue in a conversation between two characters and says - "Taris is a dangerous place. What are you doing here?"

The dialogue uncovered seems to suggest that Taris could be a planet that you might be visiting when SW:TOR is released. We will just have to wait and see to find out.

I wanted to update you on the progress of the dissection of the SW:TOR documentary. It is currently being updated with new screenshots, content, and information on the classes and skills themselves. This development came with the posting of an HD version of the documentary by the SW:TOR development team which you can find at the same place the original video was posted. We would like to thank MMORPG.com and the immense number of websites for posting the dissection. Keep checking the dissection thread and post for more updates.

There has been a bit of discussion on what the UI's code backbone is since the latest video documentary and with good reason. If we are led to believe that the UI that is currently in the game now will be close to the final product or continue to be anywhere close to where it is now there is a good chance it will be a LUA/XML based UI. For those that don't know what I am talking about - World of Warcraft is a LUA/XML based UI. Having a LUA/XML language UI allows for LUA/XML scripting for UI addons which means that UI addons will be easy to make and be similar to how UI addons are made in World of Warcraft.

The UI in it's current form has many of the same features and looks very close to the way World of Warcraft's does. If the UI is in fact LUA it will be as robust as World of Warcraft's is in its current form and will be a major draw for many people, including myself. Addons like Quest Helper, Carbonite, Titan Panel, Quartz, Customizable Action Bars, and many others could end up in SW:TOR if LUA/XML scripting is a part of the game. It is still not known whether or not what they are showing in the video is an LUA based UI but it is my belief that the current UI is too close in its current form not to be. Either way, if LUA is in the game it is a great addition to already solid looking game.
