The Star Wars: The Old Republic Fatal Alliance cover image definitely sparked our interest at STARWARS.com:

The site also states the scheduled release date for the Sean Williams novel is July 20, 2010.

In other news, the official SWTOR Twitter hinted we might see a new video documentary in tomorrow's update:

Can anyone remember when exactly it was we posted our last Video Documentary for The Old Republic? #starwars

Although some of us mistakenly thought it was Return to Taris because we think the Developer Dispatches are indeed documentaries, the correct answer is Video Documentary #3 -- released on July 17, 2009.

According to various booksellers taking pre-orders, the Dark Horse's Star Wars: The Old Republic Volume 1 - Threat of Peace is supposedly on sale starting May 5, 2010. However, BioWare originally announced on the official site the publish date would be in April, and of course, all dates are subject to change. The paperback authored by BioWare's Rob Chestney, art by Alex Sanchez, and colors by Michael Atiyeh will feature 96 pages and carries this description:

Offering an exclusive first look at the era of Star Wars: The Old Republic, written by one of the writers behind LucasArts and BioWare's wildly anticipated massive multiplayer online game, Threat of Peace unveils a galaxy on the brink of destruction three hundred years after the events of Knights of the Old Republic! For decades, the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire have been at war - the Sith have gained control of the Outer Rim, but their efforts to penetrate the Core Worlds have so far been thwarted. Now, representatives from both sides attempt to negotiate a peace treaty - but deception by the Sith puts the Jedi in an unfortunate position. The release of The Old Republic promises to be a Star Wars event of the highest order, a game-changing moment that will mobilize legions of fans to explore a never-before-seen piece of the Star Wars mythology. The story in this volume reveals the era for the first time, and is followed by bonus behind-the-scenes content found nowhere else!

Yesterday, G4's Fresh Ink reported the new webcomic Blood of The Empire will debut later this month.

In addition to Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance by Sean Williams in July, swbooks.co.uk reported the second Star Wars: The Old Republic novel by Jack Kemp with what we think is a tentative or placeholder title of Star Wars: Stand-Alone 3.

A sly forumer by the name of Rogue77, according to Njoe.com, discovered a summary for the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic tie-in novel 'Fatal Alliance' by Sean Williams. Horizon lists the novel as having an unabridged audiobook which is sure to please audio book fans. For those interested in seeing the summary of the novel early click the show button below to display the quote of the summary.

Three and a half millennia before the Clone Wars, the Treaty of Coruscant has tabled an uneasy peace between the Galactic Republic and the reemerging Sith Empire. However, with new skirmishes becoming a regular occurrence, even on the relatively peaceful planet of Alderaan, the Jedi Order finds itself in an all too familiar position: protecting the Republic from a looming all-out war.

LucasArts and BioWare are forging a new Star Wars era of epic adventure with their forthcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Set more than 3,500 years in the past of the far-away galaxy, the game occurs in a time when the Jedi and the Galactic Republic clashed with the Sith Empire. It is an era rich with storytelling opportunities not only for players, but for fans of Star Wars literature.

Already, online fans are aware of Threat of Peace, the serialized web-comic written by BioWare's Rob Chestney. This April, Dark Horse Comics begins collecting the comic into a 96-page trade paperback, Star Wars: The Old Republic Volume 1: Threat of Peace, with art by Alex Sanchez, and colors by Michael Atiyeh.

Threat of Peace author Rob Chestney is also slated to write a new, original The Old Republic short story for online publication here at StarWars.com.

Next July, Del Rey Books will publish in hardcover Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance, a novel by bestselling author Sean Williams. Now in the early planning stages is a second novel set in the Old Republic time frame, written by Paul Kemp, author of the forthcoming Crosscurrent.
